Weight 116.4, calories 997. I had lettuce with homemade taco meat on it for dinner last night and it didn't sit well. The lettuce sort of went right through me. I might have had a larger lettuce to protein ratio than usual, but do any of you have problems with lettuce?

Yeah New England Patriots! We didn'****ch the game as DH was in bed before 8 and I was before 10, but I looked at the results this morning. I need to find him a good highlights show (hopefully not during church time - 10:45-12:15). Usually we do church late Saturday, but we went to Sarasota and poked around in stores for the afternoon. It will be a great place to go on a warm afternoon/early evening as there are tons of great outside cafes. There wasn't much business for them yesterday as it was 55 degrees. This morning it is 39 degrees, but going up to 65 mid-day. I'm hoping to avoid turning on the heat (inside temp is 67 right now).

Today I think we will poke around on Manasota Key which is much closer (about 25 minutes). It is supposed to be sunny so even if it isn't bathing suit weather we can walk on the beach.

Have a sustaining Sunday!

Good Morning, Me Maties!

Liz, brrrrr this morning but your day sounds like it will be lovely! FYI, I have no trouble with lettuce/greens.

Ann, should you be browsing, hugs to you! I was so impressed that you made the rounds to the groups that knew your husband best. What a classy thing to do even as you deal with your own grief.

Yesterday, I hiked to poo-poo point and no it isn't THAT kind of poo, my poo-obsessed forum friends! A train used to run in that area and supposedly it sounded like PoooooPooooo. Anyhoo, it was shorter than I expected, maybe about 4 miles but about 1800 ft elevation so a decent workout. Better yet, closer to home and naturally rain resistant with dense forest.

It was cloudy yesterday but the top of Mt Rainier made an appearance at one point above the clouds. Poo-poo point itself was socked in with thick fog. On nicer days, paragliders take off from there so I can look forward to that another day.

Cecily, I enjoyed all your pics yesterday. Yes, so interesting to see one's new self.

I'm hiking today --- I think Mt Si. As I type, all metro hikers are thinking "I think Mt Si" so I better get a move on.

Take care of yourselves today, Shel

Yes, Ann continues to honor Del with her grace and courage. When Shel described their "eyes tethered to one another", I felt like I was there !

Weight up a pound after heavy shoveling multiple times yesterday. Hope it is muscles in recovery. Back in sub zero (-8) weather today..takes cross country skiing off the table for me, with Renaud's syndrome in my hands. Hopefully we can get some mall walking in, when we run to town to visit a friend with a blocked aortic artery.

Liz, I forgot about the Patriots game until the 4th quarter. I'm from the Boston area and spent a lot of time on the Cape as a teen and young adult. I'd loved it down there, especially right after Labor Day when the crowds had mostly left, but it was still beach weather and most places were still open.

Ann, sending hugs your way!

Mariah (younger daughter) and I made it to the movies. We saw "The Greatest showman" and it was a lot of fun! I did have a good amount of her popcorn. I admit that here, not because of guilt - it is what it is - but because popcorn is a trigger food and I can eat lots and lots of it. If I didn't admit it, it didn't happen. It's so easy to not be totally honest with others and myself, so my goal is to strive for full disclosure when it comes to food.

We're hoping to get to the animal shelter today. It will be so therapeutic for Mariah to have a pet of her own. We went on line and found a 1 1/2 year old female who is described as vocal, friendly, and a love bug - right up her alley! She's a short haired girl, which will be easier with hubby's allergy. He seemed to tolerate our guest, Koda, fairly well.

Have a wonderful Sunday all! Hugs, mary

Yes early Fall on Cape Cod is the best! We are in Falmouth so the majority of the restaurants stay open year round.

My best friend's daughter got married in Falmouth last summer, and they rented a house there for a couple of weeks. We stayed at a hotel there for two nights. We strolled around the downtown while there was a band playing and people dancing. What fun! My friend's mom was a teacher and rented a different cottage every summer, then bought a condo in W. Harwich a couple of years before she retired. We spend most of our time on that side of the Cape.

Toward the end of yesterday's hike, one of the leads exclaimed about a bird behind me and I whipped my head around to see and wrenched my neck. I think that is an injury that only happens when one is over 40... and I'm not even a bird person! Lots of ice/heat and a decent night's sleep later it's feeling a good bit better, but I opted out of today's long hike. No sense making something challenging unnecessarily harder/uncomfortable. It'll happen again next month.

So no plans now today, but that okay!

I agree that that sort of thing didn't seem to happen when we were on our 20-30's. I'm sure rest will get your neck back to feeling better.
