I pulled this up on the laptop then made the pic really big. I can confirm you look great.

You have great legs in those pants! Sometimes that voice in our head has no idea what it is talking about.

ick, hot yoga still has no appeal to me. I can't even take a regular yoga class right after a hot yoga class-- the horror lingers. (Just my opinion, of course. The hot yogis look perfectly happy and bendy)

I think of you out there on the Coast, so great at hauling ass up the steep slopes of California, and now I find out you've never been to a gym or an exercise class before, which I had assumed you were a master at. We're each full of a number of things, aren't we?
FTR, I've never done Pilates before. Have always wished I could. But sadly, there aren't any Pilates classes or instuctors or practitioners or equipment anywhere near my little Ozarkian town. And somehow, all the time I lived in California, I didn't do Pilates out there either. It's time to remedy that ... somehow.

Cecily -- I'm with Shel and BB: I hate "hot yoga" classes. I took only one hot yoga class not long after my VSG surgery. This was long before I hooked up with my current yoga teacher. The hot yoga class was a bunch of mostly skinny young women in a very small, very crowded space with an instructor calling out the names of poses (asanas) using the Hindu names, which (of course) I couldn't identify. At least "downward dog" offers hints of what to do, which "adho mukha shvanasana" does not.
For an hour we moved continuously and rapidly from one pose to another (called "vinyasa" style) and didn't stay in any pose long. There was nary a break in between poses to catch your breath or mutter "WTF?!" and CERTAINLY not to ask for clarification about anything.
I didn't leave the class, only because I was in the back row (with the other fat girls) and there was no way to get to the door. Otherwise, I'd have been right back out in the hallway with BB and Shel.

Oh Devon, what a chain reaction you have started with the onion peeling thing. But I love the fact that you have done so and that people here feel comfortable putting it out there. Diane O, its wonderful that you have shared your personal experiences. I had no idea there were residential programs for food addiction. I had some therapy for it many years ago but it was not all that effective. It is so helpful to know that others are on the same road in life and that I am not the only one with this struggle.
145 today. Pita chips = weight gain. I still have part of a bag but no more after that. Dinner last night was soup with some shrimp added so it was not a big calorie event. Gotta be those chips.
Tonight is a gallery board meeting where we will drink wine and discuss why our sales have been dropping. I think we need to revamp the place and give it a new look and feel but nobody has the energy. And our local economy is in a state of flux due to the legalization of recreational pot and drop off in the fishing and lumber industries. Interesting times.
Shel, I wish I could live stream the kiln opening but its not all that exciting. Its a big old thing sort of like a refrigerator and has a couple of hundred items in it. People gather around and help unload it to storage shelves and it takes awhile. There might be the work of 30 different people in there.
Liz, what a whirlwind of activities you have. Sounds like fun. The sun is energizing. Wish we had some here.
Just got a call from my little brother. He is now starting to eat vegan. He is always into the latest fad health thing and thinks my mother's Parkinson's disease was due to environmental issues in the old university building where her lab was. I agree. But at least my pita chips are non gmo and kosher.
Cecily, anxiety is such a beast. I too have dreams that make me anxious - usually about trying to accomplish something and many obstacles getting in my way. I was an anxious frightened child which was part of my overeating problem.
Well one of these days I will do more soul searching and post on more reasons for over eating but not today. Somehow I think its in my DNA like many traits are but that doesn't mean I can't address it and care for myself. Food for thought.
Take care all. Devon and NYT are right. Diane S
