Greetings Maintenance Marvels
144 and holding. Feels good.
Lots of fun chatter today. Mary welcome back. Keep checking in. We are a support group for all aspects of life since personal issues affect weight and maintenance. Sorry your DD had a crisis but there is a lot of that going around for young people. Another indictment of our society. Hang in there and remember to care for yourself.
Diane O, veggie chili sounds so good. Thanks to your post, no vegetable is safe today!. We are eating along the lines of the Atkins plan for DH sake. So far so good.
Cecily I love the Bill Murray image. That movie was a hoot. It reminds me that sometimes seriously messed up people can end up ruling the lives of others. Anyone ever read that book "A Confederacy of Dunces"?. Same theme. Note to self : don't let difficult demanding people get in your way. I know that was not your point Cecily but thats just what that movie brings to mind.
And thanks for the photos of the fire area. Its good to know regeneration is underway. Mother nature doesn't quit easily in spite of the abuse she takes.
Shel, my DH is into "Vikings" but I can't stand it. Too much blood, guts and testosterone. I go in the other room and watch American Pickers. I suggested we get Mrs. Meisel and he is lukewarm to the idea. This morning he had a huge argument with our color printer trying to print some fancy pictures for a friend. So funny. He gets so mad at inanimate objects and yells at them. Now he is off to Costco to buy a big TV. Can't wait to see how the set up goes. He has a friend coming over to help so I am staying out of it. It will be like Abbot and Costello. I have about an hour and a half of peace and quiet left.
I am glad for all of you that are getting cold weather relief. Its sunny and clear here today but the rain is due to come in tomorrow for all week. We have these little pacific tree frogs here and their breeding season begins soon. There is a pond nearby and at night its a virtual roar they are so loud. Makes me wonder how they do so well in the chilly winter weather here. They like to get inside downspouts and croak which intensifies the sound!
Ann, glad DH is feeling better. Sorry the Chiefs lost - I would have liked to see them in the Super Bowl.
And BB so pleased that the showers are happening. Your friends and family all probably thought someone else was doing it or hadn't focused on how far along you are and were thinking there was more time. Good for your DH for speaking up. And PM your address so we can share your joy with our virtual shower.
Time for me to JFDI (just f'ing drink it - meaning coffee.. ...) Diane S
The cobblers children finally all have shoes!
LOL! MY dogs are finally trimmed and looking decent. Well, at least they are in some stage of trim and nicely brushed.... I had a pretty busy weekend with grooming and such, but it was my choice. I wanted to work on my own dogs and had no problem devoting hour upon hour this weekend trimming my beloveds!
I don't even care that we still have Christmas decorations still out. When I sit and think about it, *****ally cares whether I still have nutcrackers and a nativity scene and a "snowy village" on the mantle? No one except me and I don't really care! Very freeing!
So, chili.... Chili ain't chili without meat! Sorry... it cracks me up that chili has become a bean and vegetable dish. My favorite chili has only meat in it! Meat, chilis, onion, garlic, tomatoes (or sauce), water, spices and sometimes a little dark beer. Back in the olden days of San Antonio (birth place of chili) that's exactly what chili was. Ole Red was introduced to non Texans at one of the world fairs (Chicago, I think) somewhere in the 1890s or first decade of 1900s. (Don't feel like looking it up...but I did at one time know my chili facts! Helps when your partner is a culinary trivia nerd and cook book collector. At one time Ron was enthralled by all things Rick Bayless! It was from Rick Bayless we learned that chili was NOT of Mexican origin.)
Talk with y'all tomorrow!
Did not know all that chili stuff. I like the dark beer bit, too. Thank you, Ron, and Rick Bayless.
P.S. Your babies are gorgeous!
