VSG Maintenance Group

Weight 117, calories 1103. We are in Florida, but it is 40 degrees this morning. The high is supposed to be in the low 60s today, but then there will be a warming trend each day after today. Regardless it is great to be out of the ice, snow, and frigid temperatures in the Northeast. I was truly surprised that we got out yesterday (and on time). I figured it was a long shot.
While we were gone, we had two doors put in where there were openings we wanted to be able to close down and they came out great. One is a sliding barn type door at the opening of the master bath where the sinks are (there was one for the room with the toilet and shower but not the sink area). The other is a pocket door on what is considered a "den". Really nice job! Now we have to think about paint colors on at least a few walls to break up the white.
I'm going to skip the morning walk as it is cold and I didn't sleep much for the second night in a row. I know that 2 nights ago was because of travel anxiety, but thought I would crash last night. Didn't happen.
Have a satisfying Saturday!

Liz, I'm so glad you guys made it to Florida. The winter travel gods were smiling on you! And your new doors sound super.
Weight's up a little bit, probably because I weighed at 2:30 am. I slept very little last night because at bedtime hubby wa**** with some severe diarrhea, which required a lot of clean-up by me and anxiety for both of us that he'd be hit with it again (mercifully, he was not).
After only three hours sleep, I awakened with my own tummy ache which, mercifully, never went progressed discomfort. Still, I never got back to sleep. We blame our intestinal travails on chemo side effects for him, sympathetic tummy aches for me, and maybe a stomach bug that's floating around the neighborhood.
But some good news is that yesterday I ate lots of veggies and fruits and cooked another lovely salmon dinner. My 9 V/Fs were oven-grilled mini-sweet peppers, steamed spinach, spring lettuces, cherry tomatoes, small potatoes, romaine lettuce, and black seedless table grapes.
More good news is that although I've been awake since 10:30 pm last night I didn't succumb to any night-time comfort eating. I drank lots of water right I got up, which seemed to assuage my interest in night-time noshing.
BTW, I binge-watched Netflix, including "Spectre," the last Daniel Craig James Bond movie, and a couple of episodes of Amazon Prime's "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel," which is a great binge-watch about a young Jewish woman circa 1958 who discovers and follows her talents and passion for stand-up comedy. I recommend the series heartily!
Today will be devoted to a LOT of laundry done on the "Sanitation" cycle and at least one long nap.
Today's theme: **** happens.

Liz.. congratulations on accomplishing the journey as planned ! The fact that you are so pleased with the doors is a bonus ! I can only dream about forty degree weather !!
My youngest DD is not great about initiating communication. She tends to call when she is driving or walking and often calls when I'm in the middle of something. I try to stop what I'm doing, to be present and enjoy the fact that she reached out. She was supposed to fly out of Kennedy last night to meet her graduate school roommate in Pittsburgh, but the flight was cancelled, so she decided to drive. I got a call and was able to catch up on her life. She plans to remain in Brooklyn for the next couple of years.
Libraries and many weekend events are cancelled due to the weather, with wind chill warnings until 7:30 AM tomorrow. Hope to get lots of cleaning done, and the rest of the holiday decorations put away. BB, you've inspired me ! I'm making garbage chili for dinner... Hamburg, beans, onion, tomato, and finely diced leftover vegetables! Yummy !
Warm wishes for a fabulous day !

I am hiking today with a conservation group in one of the local burn areas where they'll talk about the recent fires, how the landscape recovers, etc. Should be interesting.
Last night I saw Molly's Game. I really didn't expect to like it much, but it was terrific! I can highly recommend it.
Have to dash to ge ready. Have a great Saturday everybody!
Thanks for these pics, Cecily. I bet your walk yesterday was so interesting. Come spring, new life will bloom again.
I have come to regard the seasons as one of life's greatest sources of inspiration for human beings. What would we do without the rejuvenation of spring and all the good rest we get in winter?
Even disastrous fire seasons clear away undergrowth and enrich the soil, preparing it for new growth, much as our own life tragedies can clear the way for exploration and personal growth.
