New Year 2018! January 1, 2018
Here's a very quick post to let y'all know we're alive and well -- just fell down the visiting with daughter/stepdaughter rabbit hole, albeit in a good way. Just took her to the airport (a 5-hour round trip) today. Am back home now with hubby and wearing ZERO foundation garments, watching serial bowl games. ;)
I'll get back to regular posting schedule tomorrow. But I will offer up that at 4:45 am I was throwing into the trash leftovers comprised of an apple pie, a Christmas (German) stollen (fruit cake), chocolate chip muffins, milk chocolate candies, and Who Needs This Ever!? white bread that's 120 calories per slice! All these foods were things I'd laid in for the Christmas Eve party a week ago and/or foods that DSD enjoyed while she was here -- some of which I over-sampled in the last week.
I have never in my life looked forward more to chicken and veggies! Bring 'em on!
P.S. Hubby suffered pretty bad with his last-Wednesday chemo treatments from Friday morning through last night. He's doing better today.
Happy 2018 to us all!

Paula,
Yes, hubby will definitely continue with chemo. He says that the lump on his chest, which he first noticed in Vancouver in August, is now completely gone. So the chemo is doing what we hoped it would do.
Based on what I've seen in the chemo lounge in the last 3+ years during hubby's 3 rounds of chemo I'm not certain that anyone tolerates chemo very well. I just asked hubby to rate the different chemo treatments, and he says this third round is the easiest one of all three rounds. The second chemo round (a year and a half ago) REALLY REALLY SUCKED!
He'll have one more chemo treatment (in a couple of weeks), then have a PET scan to see how all the internal masses are responding. His oncologist says that even if hubby's PET scan looks completely clear at that point that he may prescribe another 2-3 chemo treatments "just to be safe." That's a very detailed conversation hubby will have then and that I'll get to listen in on and ask any questions I have.
And per my therapist's advice, "When you're on hubby's bus, you don't get to drive!" So that's our plan: Hubby gets to make all decisions about his treatments and medical care. And I get to support his decisions and him.
At least, that's what hubby and my therapist keep telling me. ;)

I am so glad your D/SD visited....what a great holiday treat!
I was wondering about you earlier today and looked to see when you last posted. I happened across the picture of your beloved dog! What a magnificent creature!
Fingers crossed that the side effects of this round of chemo have run their course.
A foundation free day.....enjoy!
