New Years Eve: Sunday December 31, 2017

Weight 116, calories maybe 2000? I didn't track the nibbles and wine at SIL's party yesterday afternoon. Some were good for me (shrimp and cheese), some not so much. Quantity wise it didn't seem like a super lot.

So much for 9 hours of sleep last night. I was in bed for 8, but got up in the middle of the night for about an hour because I couldn't sleep. Chiquita had made a mess on a pad (cold and snow kept her in yesterday), so I cleaned that up in the middle of the night.

Tonight we are going to dinner with friends, so it will be another somewhat late night out for us. Back to a regular schedule tomorrow. This week we will be buttoning up things prior to our return to Florida on Friday: I think we will visit DD one day this week and I need to see if I can get Chiquita in for her senior doggie checkup before we go. Other than that, we need to take down and put away Christmas decorations, get the surgical pins still in my scalp removed and get my hair cut and highlighted (so overdue).

Even though the week is organized, for some reason I have an unsettled feeling. I need to figure out what that is about.

Have a surprising Sunday and last day of 2017. Talk to you next year!

Weight: 179.8. So weird I ate wayyyy more yesterday than I normally do, and even woke up for a midnight snack and yet scale is down. Go figure.

Liz-sounds like you have a lot on your plate. Maybe after you cross those off you'll feel less unsettled.

I think DH is coming down with something but he doesn't want to cancel tonight's plans. I sorta wish he would so we can just chill today rather than waiting and seeing until last minute.

Successful day yesterday of beginning to patch up nursery and DH and I went through our closets and donated clothing. It doesn't look like we made much of a dent, though!

Have a wonderful and safe New Year's everyone.

The float decorating was so much work and so much fun! You have never in your life seen so many flowers in one place. We were there from 4 until after 10pm and they still had several hours of work left to do. All floats had to be done by 9am this morning. I came home covered in glue and dried parsley and will totally do it again next year...

Heading out for a hike this morning and then to my dad's for NYE dinner and to watch the parade there.

Happy New Year to all!

Wow! Is there a sponsor or something for the float so we can look for it on TV (I assume the parade is televised?)?

It's on a ton of channels. HGTV does the best flower coverage I think, but ABC and NBC has it too and Hallmark. The float we worked on was the Sikh American float.

Thanks! I just set up the DVR to record the HGTV coverage.

Greetings New Year's Friends

144 today. Down a half so getting back in the groove I hope. Its sunny and calm and I hope to get out and about today instead of staying home and shuffling papers.

Liz, I bet BB is right on feeling unsettled. You have lots to do. It may also be a bit of retiree's guilt which I experienced. It will pass. I bet it will be good to have those pins out. And hey, I am taking dog Chip in for his senior check up too. He is 11. He is fine but I bet they want to do dental work.

BB it can be hard to make DH do what is in his best interest if he is getting sick. My DH is the opposite. He moans and groans over the tiniest thing. I hope your New Years Eve is good regardless of what you decide to do.

Cecily, that float work looks so fun! Thanks for posting all the pictures. Was there a lot of flower scent in that warehouse or not? What a big operation it must be to plan to get all those flowers there at the same time. I will watch the parade and look for your float.

I so loved Devon's blog about no new years resolutions. Especially not about weight. Its a recipe for failure. Plus, if you want to make a change, why wait until the new year?

Whew, can 2017 be nearly over? Seems like we just started. It has been a wild year with strange politics and current events as well and a kind of tough personal year for me with deaths and the aftermath. But lots of good things have come my way and I am grateful I have a home, enough material things, a good husband and good friends and family. I have a lot indeed. So I must go with Ann's theme of gratitude. So there.

Peace and Joy. Diane S

It smelled really good in there. The roses are so cultivated these days, they don't really smell, but the mums and other flowers still do! I went home smelling like dried parsley and glue rather than flowers!

Whew! Back from West Virginia. The trip took us 12 hours yesterday and then last night I had a sick kid and sick dog.

Our little white dog, Bella, got me up several times throughout the night to go outside but rarely did anything - probably because is was - 4 degrees. I did set up some piddle pads but she didn't use them either. At around 3 am I noticed that she was throwing her head back and licking a lot and was shaking some and her belly seem distended (full). Off to the emergency vet at 4 am. She had X-rays which showed a very full belly and lots of stool in her GI tract. They kept her for the day and gave her IV fluids and she did poop for them. $700 later she is back home and can't eat for another 12-24 hours. Something is still wrong, but I think it is with her ears - she is tilting her head weird, has a matted bunch of hair on one ear like she has been rubbing that side to the ground and is still throwing her head back some. I wonder if they even checked her ears.

Once I had come back from dropping Bella off at the emergency hospital, I had to take DS#1 to Urgent Care. He has had off and on diarrhea for 10 days and starting vomiting with it today. Sent home with a kit for a stool sample and that has already been taken back to the lab. Expecting a call tomorrow on those results.

Ben dropped my phone while we were gone and cracked the screen, so while DS#1 was waiting to be seen in Urgent Care, I headed to the Verizon store to order a new phone. Should be in Wednesday or Thursday.

This year is going out in a bad way! Plan to go to bed early and not see 2018 come in! Cheers!

Ear check would have cost you another 200.00. Something was wrong with Buster last night, too, and I was worried we would end up at EV as well. He is better. Gosh, poor little Bella!

And then DS1 (hope if feels better, too!) and then your phone!!!! Oh no! The safety of your own bed sounds good.

DD has a couple of friends over. I feel good because they wanted to stay in so I don't have to cart them around.

Cheers!
