Weight 115.6, calories 1352. The bruising on my face is almost entirely gone! I still have swelling especially under my eye and more in the morning, but that has improved to the point that most would not realize it is post-surgery swelling. Oh and both eyes were able to be opened this morning without having to soak off the goop. It is quite amazing how quickly this is resolving now. I guess the remaining swelling and look of the scar will take weeks to completely resolve, but at least I look like a regular person now.

We had a long day in Boston yesterday. There was no traffic going in, but DH was with them for 3 hours, so we hit a lot of traffic getting out of Boston. DSD met us at the clinic, so that worked out well. We took SIL out for a retirement celebration last night as it was her last work day. She thinks that she will be heading to Florida in Mid-January.

DSD had a few difficult moments last night when talking about accepting that her mother has rejected her. I just said I was so sorry and I understood how hard that is and hugged her. It does break my heart (and I really can't fathom how a mother could do that). She wants us to go with her to some relatives on the her stepfathers side today to meet the new member (2 month old boy). They are good people and love DSD as much as we do. They have been very welcoming to us in the past so we are looking forward to it. Tomorrow afternoon we may go with DS to his birthmothers house for a while. Again, a wonderful and welcoming family. Our traditions keep changing each year, but this year there are some great additions.

Christmas Eve itself will be a small group of immediate family compared to the large gatherings we used to have but will still be enjoyable.

Have a super Saturday!

4d ultrasound was so fun yesterday! Totally worth it. I'll attach a photo of Nugget.

That was definitely the highlight of yesterday. Make everything so real!!

weather was nice and chilly with some freezing drizzle yesterday. I had off so I got grocery shopping done and then watched Meet Me in St. Louis by the fireplace=pure bliss. Celebrated kids' grades by dinner out and Jumanji.

I just finish up wrapping DH's presents so hopefully mostly done with wrapping. Trying to start with a priority list for today: broccoli salad and "white trash" popcorn to take to party tonight. Would be nice to bake some cookies or candy with DSD, but no need for them so I'll just see how that goes and if the mood strikes.

Goodness! Look at that darling little Nugget! Made my heart grow three sizes just seeing that picture! Thank you, Mama BB!

Um, will you please PM me your baby registry info? You know we are 100% serious about a VSG Virtual Baby Shower for you and Nugget and DH. (I love that dads are now included! It's about time. I grew up with an extremely hands on dad, who even scheduled his classes so he could be home with us in the afternoons!)

Greetings Friends

142.5 today. Some junk food last night didn't help. But I got some grapes as a substitute.

You all have so much fun Christmas stuff going on! We are hermits by comparison. I still have to do all wrapping but I recycle all the gift bags and bought some cute inexpensive canvas ones to use. Then we haul them all over to our friends in a laundry basket.

Yep, Liz, Christmas can be bittersweet for some people as it brings up both good and bad memories. Hoping your DSD can find joy with you all.

And Liz, so glad you are healing fast. It makes for a better holiday. Hoping for good things with the clinical trial.

Oh BB, what a beautiful little girl you are working on. Its so great that you can have this early peek. And hey, what is white trash popcorn? Sounds like something I would like. Growing up our family was major into popcorn.

Dog Chip has to go in for a heart worm test and then I have to go hunt for organic fresh chicken livers for pate. Thats all I HAVE to do today but there is tons I SHOULD do. Clear up papers, write holiday messages, laundry, pick up the house, cook and so forth.

Hey Cecily, Balboa Island sounds wonderful. Tell us about it.

We had the Costco coconut chicken soup last night. I added some tofu to it to increase protein. Quite good and a palatable way to eat tofu. More tonight.

Well thats about it. Life is pleasantly dull these days. Diane S

Hello!

I just finished up writing a letter of reference for my most recent student. It took way too long....I am wordy, as you know.

Worked out this morning. Sun is shining, the first time in days. Will get Buster out for a walk.

Went to the professional version of the Nutcracker last night with DD. It was good but I felt like I was out too late ;)

Liz, you seem to be healing so quickly! BB, love the pics, what a wonderful preview! She's going to be here so soon!

I must curve the sweets/calories. I can feel them in my clothes. :(

Peace and Hope,

Shel

My house has decended into messy again. So today entails cleaning up in anticipation of my dad and his wife coming here for Christmas day and a trip to the grocery store.

Diane, Balboa Island was very cool. You can drive onto it over a bridge (it's part of Newport Beach), so it's not something you have to get to by boat, but you can take the old, little 1920s ferry from the mainland for fun. The houses are seriously close together (tiny waterfront bungalows from the 20s turned into McMansions on the same sized lots), but it makes for very concentrated Christmas light viewing! Homeowners and boatowners there go nuts with lights, animatronic figures, inflatables, music, etc. on thier tiny parcels. There is a big boat parade there too of decorated boats. Lots of fun, especially if you rent a boat to watch from the water (I haven't done that in a while, but I should again). We walked the perimeter and up and down a few internal streets.

Tomorrow I resume hiking, yay! Headed to Laguna Canyon with my good friends.

Liz, so glad you're healing so fast!
