Exercise: Short walk in the country
I was able to walk half a mile yesterday morning over hill and dale. Funny to think of a stroll like that as exercise, but when you're coming back from an injury it definitely is. I'm still working hard at not pushing hard.
Yesterday's veggies came from baby carrots, organic spring greens (deliciously peppery!), a Roma tomato, more greens, plantain, colored peppers, black beans, half an avocado, and blueberries. In cold weather, my after-dinner treat is often (thawed) frozen blueberries with ¼ cup of vanilla yogurt.
Today, I hope not to have to drive anywhere, but stay home, do a little housecleaning, read, take another short walk, and be with my sweet hubby.

No weight.
My eating has been absolute crap the last couple days. Some of it has just been cir****tances. I ended up eating fast food twice yesterday. Ick! I've just been so busy!
DH and I went to a Christmas party last night. No one guessed I was pregnant (or at least were polite not to ask?) and when I told them I was in my third trimester, they about fell over! There was another lady there due the same week I am and she was obviously pregnant. Sometimes this worries me about baby. Sometimes this makes me feel good and I'm certainly happy not to have new stretch marks. But sometimes it makes me feel sad like I'm not getting to fully experience being pregnant.
It probably doesn't show so much because you are tall and the baby has more room to stretch out. We have friends who are 6 feet tall and both mother and daughter hardly looked pregnant until they delivered.

Yes! I wish I was tall - I always hated being so short.

Weight 115, calories 868. My eyes are pretty open now, but I have a lot of discoloration around them and my cheeks and jowls are swollen (kind of like after wisdom tooth extraction). I hope it subsides by Friday when I have to bring DH into Boston for his clinical trial appointment. I can cover discoloration with makeup, but not the swelling. I get to finally take a shower today. YEAH!
I finished Christmas shopping the day before surgery. One of the things I got was an Uno game and Parcheesi to play with DH. We were never game players, but I feel like we need to incorporate something that will provide interaction and stimulate his brain somewhat. His speech is pretty compromised since we've been home (as it was in the beginning in Florida). Transitions are clearly difficult for him.
The other holiday complication is that DD broke her lower leg and can't drive, so we need to figure out her transportation. We are going to do our main celebration (including dinner) on the 24th, so we have time to bring her back and forth but it is a long way (about 90 minutes each direction). BTW, this was caused by a malfunctioning motion detector light on the stairway to her condo (the property manager hadn't gotten around to fixing it). We had her contact an attorney about it as there will be out of pocket expenses that she can't afford as a result of this and she may have some time out of work at minimum for Doctor appointments.
Paula, I hope Ben is tolerating the chemo as well as can be expected and that it provides the benefit you are hoping for. Cherish the holidays coming up and take many pictures with the family.
Thats all for now - have to put a heating pad on my cheeks. Have a supportive Sunday!

No weight for me either today. I doubt it changed much.
Church, then go to the ER to get the chemo pump disconnected then a few shopping errands. We have a Christmas cookie/treat bake off at scouts tomorrow night so I have to get those supplies and also the seafood for Christmas Eve dinner.
Ann, woke up today thinking of fika for some reason. Maybe Dh and I need to find a way to incorporate it into ours lives! Liz, funny you mention pics. We will have some done when visiting Ben's family over the holidays.
Have a soulful Sunday friends!
Oh, Paula ... our fika times together are just magnificent. We focus on crosswords during that time (we're both writers and readers, so we love words), and we take such encouragement from our triumphs. Our pleasure is doubled because we do them as a team, and it's just so much fun to play that way together.
BTW, it's very clear to me that we adults do NOT have nearly enough PLAY in our lives! That's one of the things I love so much about my three-times-a-week aquarobics class -- it's like being a kid again! Everybody there comments on this frequently. The laughter in that high-ceilinged pool room is very high decibel at times. And my growing yoga tutu collection is inspired by the same desire for more "unnecessary" fun.
And Liz, I second your inclination for you and hubby to play more games. Doesn't matter who wins -- it's just fun to be in an activity together.
Gee, I sound like an Senior Center Activities Director, don't I? Maybe they're actually onto something, eh?
