136.6 .... I'd like to get to the bottom of my range,134, to head into the holidays. Luckily, ongoing snow is providing lots of calorie burning exercise. We're off to visit the breeder in a bit. I've spent the last few days puppy proofing the house, and stocking up on puppy size chew toys. Labs are little for such a short time, but they are voracious chewers and need tough toys to distract dangerous teeth !! I've got the soft music playing next to his den (crate). I'm hoping he likes some sort of bed in his crate, as Sadie absolutely DID NOT. She destroyed every thing we tried, and she finally had to sleep on a bare tray, until we discontinued the crate. As a four year old, she likes an oversized pillow, under her head, in just the right position ! I'm eager for her to have some mothering opportunities, as she was spayed and will never have her own litter.

Hold your loved ones tight !

DianeO -- your pre-holiday weight goal is fast approaching! And please post pix of your new puppy when he arrives.

My yesterday's over-budget calories are mostly thanks to yesterday's holiday party luncheon fare, which was high-carb and low-veggie. I ate baked chicken breast and deviled eggs, but the only veggie offered was a boiled combo of zucchini/yellow squash. I ate it, but jeez! Not even raw carrots, celery or radishes. Admittedly, no one MADE me eat that slice of luscious cake. I'm already looking forward to January.

Good news is that hubby scarfed it all up - beef brisket, deviled eggs, dressing, cranberry sauce, pinto beans, and two chocolate desserts.

Our weather today will be beautiful and 60 degrees and sunny. If my knee is up for it, I'm going to take a little walk.

Diane O.-don't I know about lab chewing. I met my husband when his lab was a puppy and she chewed up the edges of the china cabinet, the wooden columns in his old house, and a couple of my shoes. I was not impressed. just this year we replaced the china set. Little dog ruins flooring with wetting. Big dog ruins furnishings with chewing. Wonder what our "Goldilocks" dog is?! (PS my cat is a little angel!!)

Weight: 179

I felt so large yesterday but probably because I spent the whole day sitting. First at the continuing education class, and later at Star Wars.

Do you guys notice you're "pickier" eaters since WLS? One of my pet peeves has always been picky eaters. I feel that they are inconsiderate, rude, and demanding on the whole. Sure we all have preferences. And obviously there are serious dietary restrictions or food allergies or some foods people truly cannot stand. But for the most part I feel like that should be a pretty short list. I entertain a lot and have completely given up on even asking. Unless I know there is someone who is, say, a vegetarian, I don't try to please everyone's needs because it's impossible. Even in my little mahjong group of 4!! Anyway, all this to say I admit I think I'm growing more picky/preferential about food. Part of it is I physically cannot guilt eat anymore. I notice only my heavier (self conscious?) friends try to shame me into eating more and I just cannot. I also cannot eat something that was your great aunt's famous recipe just to please you. I realize now how much I felt like I was pleasing people by eating!! Also because I know how restricted I am, I eat better food! Don't want to waste it on crap. And lastly, I've noticed how much better I feel when I have a routine with food.

This was on my mind because yesterday I did not get to eat normally and I felt so icky and sluggish because of it. I normally eat a full breakfast with eggs and some kind of bread and fruit. Yesterday I had two pastries at this CLE, lunch was the grosses lunch I've had in awhile: overcooked chicken strips and French fries. And I was so hungry for dinner that I did get a hotdog at the theater. GROSSSSSS. I don't want to eat like that again ever.

I feel the same way about eating. Since our capacity is less, I want to eat something worth eating (not just crap that will leave you hungry again in an hour).

My absolute worst days are when I eat a high sugar carb as the first food of the day. It's a total day ruiner for me. It sets up a cycle of high-low blood sugar. Like you, I do my very best with a protein forward breakfast as my first food of the day.

Exactly. The hunger gets to be a bus I can never catch
