VSG Maintenance Group
Wednesday December 13, 2017 (right day/date I think)
Weight 117.4, calories 1076. I keep going back and forth by a pound, which is fine since it is in my comfort zone, but my body doesn't always seem to react the way I expect.
New life! With The arrival of Dave's new granddaughter and BB growing her new daughter, it is a wondrous thing. Our group definitely has the circle of life covered, and the arrival of the little ones is such a blessing.
It does make one contemplate what they would have done differently with their children. My eldest (Elise) arrived when I was 17, and she grew up with a Mom working full-time on getting a degree as well as a career. I regret the times I missed events at school with her, though DH would go (he was closer and had more flexibility). With the last 2, who were adopted, I only worked part-time as a consultant, so I was able to do the things I couldn't with my eldest, I think that Elise became independent earlier than the other two. That was likely mostly because of how she grew up, but also the times because she was 15+ years older than the other two and her generation typically moved out after college. Not so this younger generation. I remember when younger DD's friends would encourage her to live at home to save money. DS is home partially at our urging at this point - he has lived elsewhere and probably will again after this year.
Have a workable Wednesday!

139.2 .. hanging at the top of my range. Today is the big holiday bash for the Veterans. I smiled at myself as I got almonds, high protein granola bars, and dried fruit packets to accompany the candy dishes. I still can't purchase a box of donuts at Dunkin... I compromised and got a box of Munchkins, but what a waste of empty calories !!
I could totally relate to the intermittent guilt I feel for the mothering my daughters received. I worked full time their entire lives, and while I brought them to my school district to increase my ability to be present at events, it was still a high pressure, time consuming career. Add to that the fact that I now know I could have done much emotionally present... like Ann says, when we know better, we can do better.
Sadie needs a brother. We are looking at the four remaining pups in an eight week old litter Saturday. They have two yellow males, and a fox red male. For me, it's all about the personality and the connection.
Love yourselves today !

Oh boy - my urge to get another dog is pretty strong with the emptiness here. Chiquita won't sit in a lap anymore and kind of just stays in her bed except at mealtime and during walks. I am going to wait until after Florida to do anything though.
It would not be safe to be looking at any puppies right now!

Some different news here ... yesterday in yoga class I somehow torqued my left knee pretty bad. The pain was so strong that I left in the middle of class and drove immediately to the best PT rehab guy in town, waiting until he could work me into his schedule. I've strained a tendon that stretches over the front of my meniscus, and boy can I visualize it, based on what my knee feels like. He did some adjustment, acupuncture, and a big athletic tape-up job. Then I came home and took an Aleve in the afternoon and another one last night. I start actual PT tomorrow.
Last night I couldn't get comfortable in bed, so I wound up sleeping in my recliner in the living room while watching the (for me!) delightful Alabama senatorial election returns. I also drank a TON of water all night long, so weight was up a pound this morning when I finally got up and weighed at 4:00 am.
Today I'm going to the pool this morning, even if I only walk in the water. I am going to move my body and try not to keep stiffening up. Then I must go to the grocery store. Slow like a turtle, but forward.
Yesterday's 8 V/Fs came from an apple, spring greens, baby carrots, on-the-vine tomatoes, kale/spinach/chard, bamboo shoots, and black seedless table grapes.
Today's theme: Even with injuries and illness life can only be lived and improved one day at a time.

I'm sorry you you injuried your knee. Good for you on taking prompt action. I would probably try to ignore it and make it worse (not a recommended course)...

It was a delightful evening :). Glad you got help for that knee right away. Ouch!

Up early twiddling my thumbs not eating or drinking until it's time to leave. Apparently coffee and breakfast is a bigger part of my morning routine than I thought!
I'm missing my dog as he went to the boarder yesterday for a few days. It's amazing how much another being in the house makes it feel less lonely. If you all start talking puppies it's going to make me want one too!
Ann, I'm so bummed for you and your knee. I hope you're back to yoga in no time.
I'll be thinking of you tomorrow, Liz!
