Good morning!

Dave's picture of the beautiful little girl has me reflecting on my own beautiful DD. I'm home today and just made my kiddo pancakes for breakfast. As I watch DD transform into a fiercely independent adult, I wonder how different she would have turned out if I had been a stay at home mom. I worry that year after year of Get-Out-Of-The-House-Now! routine has left her permanently rushed. I am comparing myself to my sister right now and worried that my kid got the short end of the stick in some ways.

I don't like reflecting when I'm not sure about the reflection.

I worked out this morning. My last hike was 2 days ago and my legs are still a bit creaky. According to the 10 day forecast, tomorrow is the last sunny day (maybe forever) so I am getting out, no matter what.

On tap for today: hair cut (yesterday was color; keep up people!), DD pointe shoe pick-up, and making Grandma's braised red cabbage and apple plus "just a little sausage, for flavor," as Grandma would say. That's a recipe that feeds my soul.

Peace and hope,

Shel

We live in busy times. I think we all feel like we could have should have. We had 2 when we were still children ourselves. Then we adopted at the end of our foster parenting days. They had a better raising (and certainly better than the system they were in could ever give them) but I was thinking today I sure did work a lot when they were little. They sure grow up fast. I think I could see this new one growing while I was rocking her. I am going to be soft touch I can tell. She already has me wrapped.

Getting ready for hernia surgery tomorrow and I still don't know when my surgery slot is. That makes me crazy. I'm so hoping this does what it's supposed to do and that I'm not going through it for nothing. But the Christmas decorating is all done, so that's one check mark for the week. Now I've moved onto laundry, bed changing, house tidying, and Christmas wrapping.

Liz, I'm sorry your house is too quiet. I know that feeling all to well when losing a beloved pet. Good luck with your surgery Thursday. I'm sure the results will be fabulous!

Ann, your Tuesday sounds delightful!

BB, what a wonderful picture! That dress is gorgeous.

David, congratulations!! What a beautiful name they chose.

Ocean, I understand being wary of the Cloud. I've given in, but privacy is so fleeting these days, I understand wanting to hold on to what you can.

Shel, you do what you have to do as a parent and none of us will ever know how much of us is a product of genetics or environment. I'd take fiercely independent and rushing to accomplish things over lazy and dependent any day. Sounds like you did good!
