I think being as far along as you are, that is the perfect reason to bow out of family New Year's this year. Take it! You won't have much time for relaxing in short order, so take advantage while you can. And as A college football lover myself, I completely understand wanting to snuggle in and watch your team!

Hi all! Another very dry, very windy morning here in CA. 8% humidity. I'm so ready for this weather to clear out. This morning I'm doing a hike in Laguna Canyon. Hopefully there won't be too much dust blowing around. Tonight I have my knitting group Christmas potluck. So eating will be happening there, but lots of fun too!

I have my rides and dog care all set for surgery Wednesday. The only thing pending is the Lovenox shots (my family has a long history of blood clots, so the doctor wants me to do them for two weeks as a precaution). I'm still waiting for insurance to agree to pay for those. If they don't, the price is $1400 for 14 shots. Ouch in more ways than one.

Anyway, must dash to make it to the hike on time. Have a lovely day, everybody!

It would seem a little short-sighted for insurance not to pay.

Agreed! I so hate dealing with insurance!

Ouch indeed on the shots Cecily. Hoping the insurance comes through and that surgery goes well. Who invented so called "managed care"? If you ask me, is mismanaged care. Diane S

Exactly! Taking a chance on expensive treatment for a blood clot and $5800 for a year of Xarelto? Paying for the shots sounds like the better deal...

Greetings Busy People

Still at 142. Gotta own it. Dinner last night was Costco veggie barley soup with added asparagus. I burned the first batch by playing scrabble on the internet. Oops. And I ate a piece of veggie pizza at the studio. It was astonishing how fast I gobbled it down. My dog couldn't eat faster!

Hey Ann, so glad DH caught a break on the chemo. Hoping that it continues to be the case.

Shel, more awesome hike pictures! Buster is no doubt secure in his masculinity as shown by wearing a pink jacket. Yep, you can see the wiener dog in the front feet. Its good that he can hike off leash.

Paula I sure hope the work situation turns out ok. Not a good time to have to hassle with that. Seems like that stuff always comes at year end - insurance and other decisions to make. Its good that you don't have to do anything with the heart device.

Well BB, maybe its just not the year to go to Florida. Baby is moving right along and thats a good excuse not to travel. I will "borrow" OU this year since my team blew it big time and has no bowl game.

Hmmm, somewhere nearby someone is running heavy equipment. There is some wooded unimproved land nearby and I hope they are not building on it. I used to be able to see some hills beyond our back yard but the trees have grown too tall to see it now. They could be cutting those. Must investigate.

Christmas lights Liz! Sounds like a good time. Around here the best lights are in the truckers parade. It sounds hokey but they put lights on all these semi trucks and its really well done. I am not in the spirit yet.

Uh oh Ann, I don't even want to think about the pool. Lets hope someone just spilled a soda in it.

Its Pearl Harbor Day and I am thinking about my Dad and other WW2 veterans. It seems we have learned nothing from history and the world is still not at peace.

On that cheery note, more coffee must be prepared. Diane S
