Happy Supermoon Sunday!

Unfortunately, the moon was hidden under heavy clouds here.

I am back from a morning workout and I'm going to make a run to Wallace Falls. A shorter, less intense hike than my summer hikes; but also closer to home and there should be good water volume in the falls. I am hoping that since we are in-between good hiking weather and good snow, there will be less people on the roads. But, they will probably all be at Wallace Falls for the same reasons I am. The more the merrier.

Thanks for the pictures of the moon, Ann! Beautiful.

Had a cracker thing yesterday.

BB, are you out there? I think I saw Oklahoma won. (I might be wrong, I walk by football games rather than watch.)

Peace and Hope,

Shel

Greetings Fur Parents

142.5. More crackers last night after swearing off. Why is it that all good intentions go out the window at precisely 5 pm? I had to buy one size bigger underpants. Dinner was healthy lentil soup with carrots and some Canadian bacon but I couldn't eat a full serving due to being full of crackers.

Hey I caught a glimpse of that moon in the early evening. It was YOOOOOGE! Thanks for the picture Ann.

Yep, the fur babies grieve like we do. When we lost our previous male Tiger (border terrier) his buddy Liza went looking around the house for him. So sad. Then when we brought home new puppy Chip, Liza immediately adopted him and became his governess. Later when Liza got really old, Chip became her personal trainer - keeping her active. Liza is gone now and missed. Thanks for posting pictures Liz. Your pup was well loved.

The sun is out today after yesterday's downpour. Art needs to be delivered for our Christmas show starting tomorrow. Its actually more secular - "Twenty Seven Shades of Green". Mine is a totem of turtles.

Yay Dave on the storm room. The house I grew up in in Nebraska was designed by my dad and had a foot thick poured concrete basement with the floor above also poured concrete. It was also a bomb shelter - built in 1956. So Shel I hear ya about heading for the root cellar. Like the wizard of Oz. We are not in Kansas any more. I remember heading to the basement any number of times for tornado warnings but getting bored and leaving.

And Dave, all the best for the new baby and being a grandpa again. The fun begins.

Well I am scheduling the 10 year colonoscopy in January. Anyone had one after vsg? Not sure how I am going to drink all that stuff since I could barely do it pre vsg.

Off to look for fun and do a little laundry on the way. Diane S

Diane, I haven't done a colonoscopy post-VSG, but it's time to do so again (my mother had colon cancer in her mid-40s and lived until nearly 97 years of age).

But I wouldn't think it would be hard to drink that much liquid -- I certainly didn't guzzle it pre-op, because it was so very salty. We've got 24 hours to drink it, right? And given that I didn't get much sleep the night before the procedure, for the obvious reason -- I was "sitting on the pot," I certainly had enough time to get it all down.

Good luck to you.

Just had to say I love crackers. I had to fight myself at the grocery store just now wanting to buy a box of Triscuits, my faves. But I know I'd plow through the box until they were gone in a matter of hours/days. Good luck with the Colonoscopy prep. It's not to far in my future as well, so you'll have to let us know how it goes post VSG!

ps - I tried to find both your name and user name on words with friends and it didn't recognize them. Maybe try mine I PMd you?

I had a colonoscopy post VSG and it wasn't a problem. I actually did a double prep since I took the wrong laxative. My prep pretty much consisted of taking a laxative and drinking 32 to 48 ounces of Powerade mixed with an entire bottle of miralax. You are not eating any food so drinking that amount wasn't a problem.

I had a colonoscopy this year! Nothing special from a VSG standpoint. As Paula said, since there is no food on your stomach, the liquid just RUNS thru!

I had a colonoscopy just before Christmas last year (9 months post-op). Just like the usual except they tried to give me the LARGE quantity of stuff to drink ahead of time and I said no way as I had a teeny-tiny tummy (it was a good excuse anyway). I had to battle with the girl who kept saying that Insurance might not pay for the smaller dose stuff. I said I don't care - I would pay out of pocket if necessary. She had to consult with another staff member and finally did the prescription for the smaller amount (my insurance did pay for it).

BTW, I found that sucking an altoid between swallows of the disgusting stuff kept me from upchucking it. I did feel like I couldn't get as much down at a time as pre-VSG.

Late post and none yesterday - my apologies!

Weight 165.4, calories 1380

I went to a fun birthday party today. My friend every year rents out a quirky old local movie theater for the morning, has breakfast catered and shows one of his favorite movies (his taste in movies is quirky too!). Today was Mel Brooks' History of the World Part I. Very funny. I skipped the mimosas, bloody mary's, candy and popcorn but did have half a breakfast sandwich and some fruit. I saw lots of old friends I haven't seen in a year and got lots of I didn't recognize you's and compliments and yet another you look taller. And even one I need to fix you up with so-and-so. Why does no one want to set you up on a date when you're fat? Hmmm.

Tonight I'm toying with decorating for Christmas or starting anyway.

Liz, I'm sorry again about your sweet girl.

"Why does no one want to set you up on a date when you're fat?"

Truth.

Hi! Late, late check in for the weekend.

Weight down just about 4 lbs since sugar abstaining period began.

I have not much to report except that I made it through two full days of dog shows without eating a single "sugar food". There was even a table each day with FREE HOMEMADE COOKIES, BROWNIES, COOKIE BARS, and CHOCOLATE! I am feeling quite smug and rather proud of myself for managing that feat!

So much sadness... Sweet Duchess, Ben.... so I want to post a happy moment:

I took the puppies to a 4-6 month old puppy competition for ****s and giggles. Little Dot won the Terrier Group for puppies! Go figure. Isn't she pretty!
