I was just wondering when your surgery was going to be. I'm having my eyes done the next day (12/14).

Greetings Fine Friends
141. Ate poorly last night. I planned on making chicken but DH wanted chili so I opened a can. It didn't appeal to me so I ate a bit of leftover pizza and a couple of tostada crisps. Pretty unhealthy and lacking in protein. Tonight its lime chicken or bust. And fresh green beans. And I hope all the Halloween Kit Kat bars are gone from the studio.
Well Shel and Devon it does make sense that poor eating could impact a workout. Why do all the body builders worry so much about nutrition? Because you are what you eat. My former self was a Reece's peanut butter cup. My new self is a cheese stick (several).
Yes, older people with some dementia can certainly benefit from antidepressants. But its hard to suggest it. Crazy Pat clearly needed that and we talked about it but it never happened. BB I had years of dealing with a difficult angry older person and it was walking on eggshells all the time. No good answers except I always tried to do the right thing so I could live with myself later. Glad I did.
Devon I hope the detox is going well and that the headaches are behind you. There should be a public service announcement "This is sugar. This is your brain on sugar. Any questions?" The video would be a melted ice cream bar or a squashed up big mac.
Paula we are thinking of you even when you don't post. Hang in there.
Cecily, I hope you get over that airplane cold. I always use Zicam when I get on a plane because I so hate colds. Rest and get well before your surgery. Ditto Liz.
DH is playing some lovely Christmas music on his iPad. And puppy is so funny looking for the music source.
Well off for a day of getting signature guaranties, faxing, mailing and other paper shuffling. Then shuffling clay. The big rush is on at the studio to get lots of holiday stuff done and I am glad I am not caught up in that. No craft fairs for me. Its more fun to be a shopper than a vendor.
Cheers to all. diane s
That same virus (or similar ones) are marching through our neighborhood now. This morning's yoga class was full of good reviews for "Airborne," which must be taken immediately upon symptoms' appearance to get rid of respiratory infections sooner rather than later.

Detox day 3. All is going well. Down 3.2 in two days. I'll take it.
Gave input to the School Board, as they requested, regarding a specific schedule change this year. I gave my input and cited several issues that live in concert with the change. Got a very lengthy and discretely venomous reply from the Superintendent. She cc'd the entire school board and my principal and clearly stated she was writing as a representative of the board. What I found fascinating, bothersome, and absolutely off putting was that she focused on a four word phrase on which to base her reply. She spent three paragraphs citing her personal improvements in that singular area, even chiding me for not acknowledging her growth in that area. Anyhow, she sent it after 11:00 pm when I was getting ready for bed. Stupid me saw it on my phone and read it. Bad move. My sleep was disturbed and restless. I am guessing that I got just about 4 hours of on and off sleep.
Then this morning, I got the follow up email. The personal note. The "I hope you'll stick with me through this process" note. I felt like a spouse who'd been physically abused getting the "I'm sorry" bouquet of flowers after being beaten the night before. I'm actually more bothered by the personal follow up than I am over the original response.
Good news is that I have not "eaten" over it, but I'm p.o.'d.
Yes, nutrition can have a huge impact on workout performance - both negatively or positively depending upon the balance of macro and micro nutrients consumed. It is important to note that body type and individual metabolism play a huge role in how food affects performance.
El yucko, Devon. It sounds to me like your superintendent's incredibly defensive email means simply that the changes she has championed have put her and her career on thin ice. I also am betting that your views will be seen eventually (if not already) as accurate and wise.
Keep your powder dry. ;)

Sounds like your feedback was objective and totally on point, pressing some of your superintendent's buttons ! Some of the moments of my career I'm most proud of put me on the superintendent's sh*t list, but contributed to my integrity and my legacy. You rock !

Since you were asked for "input", it sounds like the school board wanted to hear the opinion of someone closer to the change than the Superintendent. Since that's what you gave it should be acceptable, but clearly the superintendent wanted you to give feedback that favored her opinion, not necessarily the truth. School politics stink! Not that corporations are necessarily better, but somehow when I was involved with my kids schools the politics seemed meaner there (maybe more personal at times?).

Another night of late-night munchies. Last night I had indigestion and couldn't sleep. The indigestion was inspired by (shaking my head -- no idea why I did this) a banana and an iron pill and coffee for our afternoon fika. Not a good combo and not doing that again! Tonight, I may resort to a Tylenol PM to get more sleep.
Devon might say I'm using nighttime eating to process some unaddressed issues. Gee, I don't have any unaddressed issues, ya think?! ;) But seriously, it does feel like there's something to that. None of this feels like binge eating, just comfort eating and, when staying up until 2:30 am (last night), simple physical hunger.
Yesterday's 9 V/Fs were an apple, baby carrots, tomato, romaine lettuce, banana (THAT banana!), beans, kale/chard/spinach, peppers, and a mango.
Had a great yoga class this morning, to which I wore an ugly Christmas sweater with battery-operated Christmas lights and blinking Christmas light earrings. I was resplendent!
Today's theme: The sun is shining; things are much better than they could be!
