Quick post today - have my monthly trip to the city 2 hours away to see my therapist, shop, and run errands.

Weight is coming down nicely. Yesterday's 9 V/Fs came from a Honeycrisp apple, multi-colored small tomatoes, baby carrots, romaine lettuce, chard/spinach/kale, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, papaya, mango and pineapple. I really enjoyed all of that; the more V/Fs I eat, the more I crave them. Better than craving oreos, eh? (Actually, that makes me queasy to think about it.)

I'll miss my aquarobics class today, but have planned a quick 20" walk at a park I love very much.

Today's theme: Makin' a list and checkin' it twice!

9 V/F's and your protein is still that high. You are a wonder! Did you eat that many veggies and fruits when you were growing up or is this a newly acquired craving? Just curious as I've never cared a lot one way or another about fruits and veggies are so/so for me. Also, you must spend a fortune on all of it?

Weight 115.8, calories 989. I got about 8 hours of sleep last night though it was broken by a couple of hours of reading in the middle after DH had a confused night wander on the room. Hopefully he will settle down here soon. Last night we cooked a turkey so we'd have leftovers and it came out well without a ton of work (we did not do stuffing or gravy). Today we are going to the coffee this morning to meet people, then probably to the beach this afternoon.

Our friend won 3rd in the advanced amateur category of the sand sculpting contest (final version below). Number one is also below but not in its final state (hare and tortoise). The baby and dog photo yesterday was in the professional division. Number one in the professional division is also below (intelligence).

Have a munificent Monday!

Weight: 174.2 (So up about 1lb. from my last doc apt 12 days ago. Not too bad)

Ann-I've been meaning to ask if you tolerate raw veggies/f/v in general well? That is one downside to surgery for me :( Idk what it is exactly, but kind of like Colitis. In any even, raw peppers or most raw lettuces tend to upset my stomach. And even cooked pepper and spinach can cause me terrible abdominal issues. And since they only started after surgery, I'm assuming it was surgery.

We got a lot accomplished yesterday, and yet it doesn't feel that way. Thanksgiving is all down and boxed. DH heads to Canada today so he sweetly brought down Christmas boxes so I could slowly unload (without lifting heavy). Both trees are down and "up", though they both have some fluffing and relighting to do. I will decorate the smaller tree while he's gone, and hope to get up some other decorations placed, but we'll try to do the 12ft. tree when he gets back. Company and vacation is really making it difficult to get decorating done!! And all outside lights are basically done! Woohoo! Just couldn't pass up opportunity yesterday to do it in 70o weather!

I have done practically zero shopping. But first...decorating!

Liz and BB, I'll consider more fully when I have more time your V/F questions.

But quickly -- Liz, no, I did NOT crave veggies like this as a child or younger person. This is all a result of actually eating V/Fs the last few months. I don't think I spend a "fortune" on V/Fs, because I do most of my V/F shopping at Aldi's, where the prices are considerably lower and the quality seems just great to me. I don't mind buying frozen fruits and veggies when I have a hankering for something not in season.

And, BB, my tolerance for raw veggies is slowly coming back. I couldn't handle lettuce well at all until about 6 months ago. And I do have my limits as to how much I can deal with -- 2 cups of romaine lettuce is definitely my max. I think my tummy also likes cooked veggies better, but that's certainly a capacity issue -- cooked veggies just aren't as puffy as raw ones.

Gotta run. Later, gators!

Thanks Ann. I have problems eating raw veggies too, so I mostly eat them cooked or in very small amounts when I have them. There is an Aldi here, so I'll check it out. We didn't have one in Massachusetts.

Weight 166.6, calories either 1289 or 1389. Can't remember if I had a second bag of Enlightened beans

I have the beginnings of a cold this morning thanks to my infected seatmate on one of my flights Saturday. Grrrrrrr.

Today I get pre-op bloodwork and an EKG for hiatal hernia surgery later this month. It's moved 3 times now, but hopefully it's settled on the 13th. I hope I'm doing the right thing gettting it done. I?m fine with a daily PPI, but without it I have really bad GERD. Basically I'm thinking the daily PPI for life is a bad idea, so I might as well try to fix it while my deductible and copays are paid up for the year due to my VSG last Feb. But I'm not looking forward to another surgery, worried it won't fix the problem as he tried unsuccessfully to fix it in Feb, and frankly worried it will trigger more hairloss I don't feel I can afford at the moment.

Anyway, lots to discuss with the therapist today. I'm feeling very overwhelmed by my dad's health issues, the upcoming surgery, identifty theft, and a host of little stuff that normally would be manageable, but right now feels monumental. It's not making me want to eat which is good, but I feel suffocated...

You have a lot going on and aren't feeling well to boot, which probably adds to it all suffocating you. It does sound like doing something about the hernia is the right thing.

Greetings My Fellow Maintainers

140.5 today. That would make me cranky except its sunny and bright here and hard to be a crab. Speaking of which, crab season here is approaching. Last years was very short so hoping for better this year.

Liz the sculptures are great. Glad you are getting some R and R.

BB, I had trouble with raw veggies for quite some time but now its totally fine. I can't say how long it took but I am glad I can handle them now. And thanks to Ann, I make a point to try to get them in. I think plenty of so called normal people have trouble with certain ones. I admire your energy for holiday decorating. We do one thing - put up a table top fiber optic tree.

Ann have a great city trip. Spoil yourself a little. Eat an egg mcmuffin.

Cecily sorry you are stressed. It will be good to get the hernia repair behind you. Mine was done during vsg but DH had to have a repair a year or so after his vsg. It went fine and was a big help.

Nothing exciting here except I have a long "to do" list today so I'd better get at it. But first, more coffee. Diane S
