Weight 116, calories 1631.

We spent a good portion of the day yesterday finishing the cleaning, then doing some minor decorating. We strung Christmas lights on our lanai, which I think makes it look quite festive. My hands and arms were hurting like crazy yesterday but seem better this morning. We went in the pool for a while even though it was cloudy and 70. The water was 89, so it was almost like being in a jacuzzi (which I do wish they had - they have a pool, tennis courts, shuffleboard, exercise room, etc, but no jacuzzi).

We bought a small turkey to cook tomorrow - we will skip the stuffing and gravy, but we missed having leftover turkey (and the smell of it cooking).

Today we are going to Ft Myers beach to see the sand sculpting competition. Our friend competes as an advance amateur (this is his 4th or 5th year here). I will have pictures for tomorrow.

Have a stupendous Saturday!

Weight ? Calories Maybe 1600?

I'm flying home now, away from tempting leftover pie and stuffing. I had two pieces of pie yesterday. Oops. Yum.

The trip was fun and it was so nice to spend time with my family and friends. My friend who was there let me have lots of baby time holding her 10 week old girl. Babies are awesome and this one was very mellow and sooo tiny!

The sand sculpting competition sounds really fun, Liz, enjoy!

Weight: 133.4
Macros: Cals - 1,525, Carbs - 182, Fats - 40, Protein - 99, Fiber - 23
Veggies/Fruits (goal 8): 8
Sleep (goal 8 hours): 8 hours
Exercise: Walked 30" on our property

Yesterday's 8 V/Fs came from cherry tomatoes, baby carrots, romaine lettuce, chard/spinach, bamboo shoots, peppers, mango, and blueberries.

My weight has hopped up. But I can't blame it on Thanksgiving. The last month of stressful trips to the Big City to visit the Celebrity Oncologist and our growing worries about hubby's cancer have had caloric and other impacts. It's time to refocus on ME and MY NEEDS. As in the past, others won't notice, but I will notice and reap the benefits.

And on that note, I just came inside from walking for an hour on our property as the sun came up. Gorgeous! And the hills and bottoms on our property are more challenging than the streets and sidewalks of town. Plus, no driving!

Lately, I've been buying mangos and avocadoes at Aldi's for 89 cents apiece and letting them ripen on the counter. They're so good! On the cusp of December, I'm reduced to buying frozen blueberries, because fresh ones are about $500/ounce. Still, I marvel at the variety of veggies and fruits now available off-season, compared to what we had 30-40 years ago.

Today's theme ... hurrah for weekends!

I like frozen cherries an awful lot. All that red! Must be good for for the body, somehow.

When is next appt with the local onc? Or maybe there is a plan set now that he has the new info from celebrity onc?

Your morning walk sounded so wonderfully nourishing. Did you break out in song?

Hurrah!

Don't have an appointment set yet with local onc, but will surely be this week.

Yes, the walk here was beautiful. But nope, no hosannahs were sung. :)

Red cherries DO sound good!

I had the same thought as Shel on the walk - I should get my butt outside when I finish my coffee!

148.2 - up but about where I was from my recent undeserved loss.

Christmas tree is up and decorated this morning and the family room has the usual decorations up too. We won't do outside decorations. I have the bulk of my Christmas shopping done too - all on-line from the comfort of my own home in my PJs!

Our family room furniture is getting quite worn. Why don't things last these days? I'm not sure they are even 5 years old yet. We have purchased leather and bonded leather the last several times, I think I will go with microfiber this time around and see if it will last any longer. The dogs and boys are both allowed on the furniture. Maybe I should make a new rule - no boys allowed - Lol! It is actually the dogs that probably do the most damage - they lick everything, repeatedly!

Liz, that sand sculpting competition sounds awesome! My parents are on their way to Fort Myers right now. I'm actually a little ticked that they are going down there right now. I would have loved to have had them over the Thanksgiving and we have not had a Christmas with relatives since the kids were very little. I know my parents can't help out with the physical stuff, but emotionally I need them more now than I probably ever have and they leave!

Ann, good for you for taking care of you during this stressful time in your life. I could/should do much better with that.

Safe travels home Cecily! Getting back to your normal routine will be good!

Love to you all!

Good Morning, Mates!

Liz, Florida sounds grand, absolutely stupendous! Now that you are retired, how long do you plan to stay?

Dave, having a new grandchild on the way does sound exciting!

My weekend should be aok. The house is still clean from Thanksgiving prep. I need to log into work. My buddy pharmacist came back to work from medical leave too early so if she works next week it will be limited. I'm pooping out, honestly. I will need to cry uncle before I fall apart but I don't think I'm there, yet. I do have a week off in a couple of weeks and nothing will keep me from taking that.

My gym workout is done, there is turkey stock instant-potting, and I plan to home yoga til it is time for DD's violin lesson. In a couple of weeks, I think she will be able to navigate herself there and back but for now she needs a co-pilot. I also plan to do a little on-line exploring of the appalachian trial.

Paula, we need new furniture, too.....I have just been putting it off. That and new oven/microwave are on the docket for next year. I'm pretty sure the oven's handle is going to pull off in the next several months. :)

DianeS, I didn't know (or remember) that you went to Grinnell. Such a good school. I did love going to school at Iowa and still think that Iowa City is one of the best places on earth. Sorry about the Huskers yesterday. My dad says that Husker nation is in a lather about what to do to improve, even to the point of wondering if they should poach Iowa State's coach! (What is the world coming to?!)

Hug that skinny self tight!

Shel

Greetings Fun People

140.5 on this sleepy Saturday. One dog and one DH are asleep. The other dog is charging about with a squeaky toy. Domestic bliss.

Hey Shel, Iowa City is indeed fun. I had a friend who went there and hung around with Kurt Vonnegut back in the day. Yeah I am sure the huskers will get a new coach. Never should have fired Solich. Its been downhill ever since. I am not heavily invested and enjoy the games - win or lose - but some of my family gets pretty dejected.

And Shel, please try to cut yourself some slack before getting to meltdown temperature. Hoping you and your co worker can work something out.

Hey all, we also need new living room furniture. Our sectional was custom made and beautiful but that was 30 years and 6 dogs ago. Its covered with old sheets and such now. I tell people its to protect from dog footprints but its really to hide the stains and wear. I will not do leather as it feels cold in the winter and sticky in the summer and dogs would think its a giant chew toy. And the big tv is about to kick the bucket. We shall see.

Liz sand sculpture sounds like fun. We do that in the summer here. Enjoy.

Paula sorry you are missing your parents. They must really feel a need for the warmth of Florida. Thinking of you and your medical journeys.

Ann I wondered how you found all those good fresh things. We still get fresh berries when we can but they are expensive. DH loves them and he is worth it. Glad you got the walk in. I can imagine you bursting into song "The Hills Are Alive....." tee hee.

DH was watching some hideously creepy sci fi last night that was so gross I had to leave and go watch football in the bedroom. That stuff later in the evening puts me on edge - and therefore likely to not sleep and therefore eat.

Our gallery has an anniversary party today and it was on the news so I must put in an appearance. Then studio time and groceries since we have no leftovers.

Well Charles Manson died and looking at his picture on the news I think my hairdo looks about like his. Gotta get a cut.

Well DH has turned on a game played by teams who know how to play football. Its tempting to stay in pajamas all day and binge watch football but duty calls.

Theme for the day: RELAX, gul durnnit! Diane S

Happy Saturday!

Had a nice day off yesterday - no dogs groomed except my pups own pups. Then a super intense workout and later a movie. Gotta say, I love this new Luxury Seating they are putting into the Cinemark theaters - ELECTRIC RECLINERS! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE! Murder on the Orient Express - highly recommend. Kenneth Branagh's portrayal of Hercule Poirot is unmatched. He brought a sense of tortured humanity to Poirot that made the character sympathetic, witty, and likeable - qualities one does not usually associate with Poirot.

Ann, my F/Vs came from frozen blueberries and pumpkin pie! LOL! But seriously, I don't know if you have access to a Trader Joe's, but they carry a Wild Boreal Blueberries in the freezer section that are fantastic - little, sweet, delicious berries! I am never without them.

So, Tuesday is D-Day for my detox. I'm scared ****less. Of what, I don't know. Cravings? So, so odd. I have got to figure this s*^t out. I know we all have levels of dysfunction (or as I like to say, "We're all f*%$^d up in our own ways - some just more than others.), but dang, I have to get a hold of this. Onward obesity soldiers, marching on to war, bearing the cross of the foodie.... LOL! Crack myself up sometimes....

Have another schedule grooming free day tomorrow and kept all week free, too. Baby steps of self care!

Hugs to all.
