I think the thought on weakness has a lot of merit, Shel. When I left after the summer, it got cold here and he stopped walking, which doesn't help with balance, core strength, or leg strength. Maybe if we can convince him to try PT or going to the local Health Connection (gym at the hospital) to walk and strengthen his legs it would help!
I've read but my cooking company is arriving in a few so no time for replies yet.
I thank all of you for sharing your insights so openly. I hope we can all accept that we're all in progress. And that's okay, great, if not awesome! Keep on keeping on and loving yourself.
Weight: 174.6 I think. Up today but not surprising as I had Mexican food for dinner last night.
I hope you all enjoy your Thanksgiving celebrations. They don't have to be about food. But it's okay if they are, too. My mom and aunt and gma are on their way over to start to prep cooking. Soon the kitchen will be filled with the aroma of butter and onions and sage. And I will hold tight to these memories.
146.2, probably not a true loss.
Lots of good musings from you all! Hopefully someday I can get back to being a relevant encouraging, insightful poster again. Right now I feel I'm doing a lot of taking and not much giving back. 'Tis the season I'm in I guess.
Today we travel back to Mayo to meet with the surgeon (Finally!). I'm a little nervous. But as Devon would remind me, I ought not borrow trouble!
I think I will try to ponder on the PEACE mantra for the day that was posted a bit ago!
Peace, dear Paula.
And take all you want.
Hugs!

Glad the Mayo visit provided information! I will keep my fingers crossed that your bureaucratic insurance people clear the path so that the PET scan and exploratory surgery happen as scheduled. How wonderful to get the referal to the gut oncologist, too! It seems to me as if someone has your family's best interest at heart. As for borrowing trouble from the future, don't! LOL!
I am reminded of the Serenity Prayer. Many people only know the first stanza. Read the whole thing. It's beautiful and relevant to so much of the life we live every day. In your life where the lack of control must be terrifying, these words might give pause for thought and comfort:
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
enjoying one moment at a time;
accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
forever in the next.
Hugs, my friend! Hugs!
Love this, Devon. I'd never read the whole thing before. Thanks.
