Greetings Peaceful Ones
141 today after yesterday's dinner of Eggface's ricotta bake. So good. I found myself taking lots of tastes of the pasta sauce I used. Who'd a thunk Prego sauce was such a temptation but I guess its loaded with sugar. Cheese also flew into my mouth. Weekends are a more difficult time for me as I tend to lounge about the house and the kitchen calls to me. Oddly there are Dove chocolates on the table from Halloween that I have not touched. Go figure.
Shel, that NYT article was terrific. I have always wished someone would write a book summarizing all the current evidence on diet, health and weight control that was objective and without some book selling agenda. "The End of Overeating" was pretty good but its 9 years old now. I need to read it again and rekindle my hatred of big food companies. Potato chips have again become seductive.
Anyway Shel I hope you can find a little peace and enjoy the holidays (I started to type "get through the holidays ok" and realized what a bad attitude that shows). As a recovering holiday hater I need to remind myself about being thankful for all that I have starting with this fresh cup of organic locally roasted coffee with yummy half and half.
Ann so nice that you can walk on your own property and enjoy the seasonal changes. It no doubt gives you peace and strength. So many fruits and veggies! You must only eat a spoonful of each.
Liz hope you are safe and sound and warm in Florida. I had a good friend who used to be a waiter and she said they were all pretty cavalier about whether they poured regular or decaf coffee. Anyway get some R and R.
Its pouring rain today and I have to go to the dentist later in the afternoon. Meanwhile there is more paperwork on my mother's estate and kiln results to look at and persian cucumbers to eat.
Take care all. I think peace comes from within rather than from rearranging your surroundings. How's that for profound? Diane S

David, up here we have an old walnut tree that has died. We were going to have our "hired grandsons" cut it down and take it away. But if you want it, you can have it.
Just sayin'. :)

The cabinet maker in me says YES. If my back keeps improving I may take you up on your generous offer. I love the way it looks but I have not had the opportunity to work much walnut. If you need it gone now, let your grandsons take it away, I understand.

There's no rush at all, David. I'll ping you this winter and see how you feel about it then. :)

Hi all! Late check in once again! 14 hour day away from home. Left at 7:30 am and got home just before 9:30 pm. I swear I'm insane!!!! ....but stuff needs to get done, right?
So, lots going on in my brain re: food, eating, disordered eating, weight, coping mechanisms, etc... None of it is bad, nor am I feeling down or blue. Just a lot of stuff rumbling around in there. I am glad I had a session with the shrink today. Was sort of fun to vocalize somethings I have been thinking. If I weren't so tired, I'd get into it some more. I simply don't have the mental energy at 11:30 pm. Maybe tomorrow.
Best to all!
