Exercise: Walking
Yesterday's 8 servings of V/Fs came from fresh-cut mango, carrots, cherry tomatoes, romaine lettuce, spinach, kale and chard, sweet potato, red and yellow peppers, blueberries and fresh-cut pineapple.
Sunday was another restful day for us. I wound up walking not in town, but on our property, which was a beautiful stroll. All the work we put in this past spring and summer has really gotten our place back into good shape. The recent high winds have stripped the trees of their leaves, and the paths through the woods are now brighter with a different vibe than they were a week ago.
Today I'm sticking with yesterday's theme: Invite peace. (Glad you liked it so much, David!)

Ann... We posted at the same time, so I deleted mine. I took a long walk with Sadie yesterday, then did some core work at home. Up two pounds today, to the upper end of my range. I can see the fluid retention in my leg and feel it in my fingers. I'll stay the course and it should resolve itself. My eating has been okay, and my weight goes above 139, I'll start tracking every bite again.
- In addition to inviting peace, let's have a meditative Monday.

Sounds like some good exercise is being had by others (I'm just flattening my seat in the car)! I missed participating in the discussions yesterday due to a VERY long day. Just want to say that because I do a lot of dog cleanup with pee pads and wet beds galore, I have someone else wash my beagle (the chihuahua is like a cat and grooms herself pretty much).
I just put some of those enlightened broad beans into my Amazon cart (100 calorie packages). I was totally satisfied by that size package for the sample, but I know what happens with me and almonds, so I'm sticking with those individually packaged ones.
We are in Fredericksburg VA right now, leaving around 9 for our next stop in Charleston SC (it is 7 now). Yesterday morning started out with a bang because DH had an accident in bed. So I had to clean it up, wash sheets, clothes, etc. while getting ready to leave. On the plus side, it got DH up early so we left on the early side of our departure window. We got here by 5:30, had a good, quick dinner, then settled in. DH fell asleep by 7:30, but was up with nightmares all night. That was okay until I FINALLY fell asleep at 1:30, but he still woke me up a couple of times after that. It was hot in the room and I was too wired to sleep. In retrospect I wonder if the late afternoon decaf coffee was really caffeinated? Anyway, we have a shorter drive today and we will be in Charleston for 2 nights so hopefully I can recoup.
Have a mondo Monday!

Peaceful Monday to Ya ALL!!!!!
Oh, who am I kidding? I've got no peace and I'm saving its invitation til I'm good and ready --- probably Wed. Feels weird to be out of sync with y'all but there it is.
In the meantime, quick morning home yoga then full court press at work. Thanksgiving prep is going aok but there will be something to do daily. Mostly, I enjoy this frenetic activity. It is made easier by decent food habits. I'm not quite exactly sure how that changes my brain but it does.
I do wish each and every one of you peace today.
Shel

Shel, that NYTimes article is AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL! Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
Headline: HOW I LOST WEIGHT AND LEARNED TO LOVE THANKSGIVING AGAIN
Kicker headline: When we moralize about food, we remove joy from eating and forget the benefits of moderation.

David-thank you for the thoughts on family. I do agree with you in thinking it's just their *style*. But it's good to have a reminder. I guess we just really hoped that something that we'd done would gain actual compliments/praise.
DH and I smoked a brisket overnight Saturday and took it when we went to visit his sister's. It was yummo, but I ate too much yesterday!!
Thanksgiving prep here today too. Well actually I can either hold off until tomorrow, having one last day of rest, or spread out my tasks more evenly.

We had a lovely 5 mile hike yesterday in an area called Whiting Ranch. I forgot how many mountain bikers go out there on weekends! I think that will be a mid-week hike going forward.
Here is a picture afterwards at a nearby place we went to for coffee (the one with makeup in front joined us after the hike!). Of course, I'm still instinctively hiding myself behind others in pictures, plus being tall I always go to the back. But I'm starting to not hate pictures of myself which is real growth haha
Today is packing for MI, dropping off the dog, a therapist appt, and hopefully picking up my fixed car.
Hope everyone has a great Monday!
Cecily, I lived in SoCalf for 20 years (Glendale) and spent every weekend either on Angeles Crest or farther north in one of the national parks. LOVE California for hiking scenes. I miss that very much.
