Yowzah, Cecily! That's truly creepy. I would so be up for a sting operation!

I agree with you that the police should have been more concerned about the up-close-and-personal risks to you revealed by the in-town presence of the creep and/or their associates. This is very likely a national or regional criminal organization with many players. So glad you found about it only 24 hours later.

BTW, I think you are doing a GREAT job of bird-dogging this! I am learning a lot about what to do if this happens to us. Thanks.

My mom was a probation officer doing investigations for 38 years so she taught me well and made me nearly as suspicious as she was! She actually testified in front of Congress in the early 90s when identity theft via computers was first a "thing" and my parents were targeted. Back then you had to do everything by regular mail, no one had decent fraud departments, no one quite knew what to do when something like this happened, and she worked directly with the Secret Service to clear their credit (who knew the Secret Service did more than protect the President!).

Now it's not as difficult to shut the activity down, but the feelings of violation are still the same...

What good luck that you tried to set up a mail hold. Watching out for mail holds should be in the best practices for combating identity theft.

Creepier, yes. Yet now somehow actionable! I am imagining you and your merry band of knitters crafting a trap.

I am truly sorry you are going thru this.

A web of yarn, ha!

And you?re so right about keeping an eye out for mail holds. I have to thank Thanksgiving because I might not have noticed it so fast otherwise (though I strongly suggest people sign up for Informed Daily Delivery Digest with the post office so you know what should be coming or goes missing. It?s free). Physical mail is kind of a rarity these days with email and online bills, so not getting mail may not arouse suspicion right away. And by the time it does they are off with their stolen cards.

Oh man Cecily, I can't even fathom what you must be going through and how violated you must feel. Hope they can catch the scum bag!

Greetings My Magnificents!

140.5. Lentil soup last night. Its becoming a winter favorite.

Yesterday was my 8 year anniversary. I emailed my surgeon and thanked him. Didn't mention the regain. There was a Reeces' peanut butter cup at the gallery which required that I eat it. Fortunately there was only one and I moved the rest of the candy away.

Liz, travel safely. When I read your post, I thought it said baseball bats and I wondered why DH needed 6. Note to self: clean glasses.

Paula I saw your post last night on CB and you have my sympathies. Ditto Ann. In this age of information why can no one keep it straight? Is it volume of stuff, lack of attention span, or all of the above? Both of your DHs' are lucky to have advocate/support persons in this tough time. Major self care is in order for both of you. These thoughts seem so inadequate for all you both are facing.

BB, what a bummer. I don't know what Redditz is but obviously not where you want such a picture. You and your sister look fabulous both before and after. All I can say is be proud and confident in what you have done if anyone mentions this to your face. You can't unring the bell but you can control how you react. Weight loss surgery is not a crime nor a sin.

Well its sunny and calm here so I may get a dog walk in before our team plays and probably gets defeated.

Well we are fast approaching the "crush" of Thanksgiving. I have it easy compared to most of you as I don't have to cook or host and I don't care about "black Friday". Here's hoping everyone can enjoy friends and family and not get too over-booked stressed about chores and such. Enjoy your families!

Time for more coffee. Diane S

Gosh, so much goes on while I leisurely write a post!

Cecily that is indeed creepy about the person possibly being nearby. Good on you for getting the police and postal inspector involved. Another case for personal advocacy. I sure hope these issues are nearing an end.

I got an email from a good friend asking for a favor. She said she was in Dubai and needed $1300 to get home. Yeah right. This friend lives in Detroit and no way would this happen. Scam alert.

And Shel, remember some months ago I got a new refrigerator rather than clean the old one? It actually was more than that, but I think you need a new dishwasher. We got a new one when the old one started rusting inside. Don't wait until it dies on you. You decide when to euthanize it. For years I had a clothes dryer that wouldn't stay closed to operate unless I held it shut with a fireplace poker and a law book. It still worked but I finally decided it was done.

Peace. Over and out. Diane S

Well, I shopped dishwashers on sale but on a whim looked to see when we could get a service call. It was this afternoon so I can't complain about that. 91 dollars and we are done.

I have been working hard at doing nothing. I am caught up on this group postings. I was behind a week or so.

No wt today. Eating has calmed down a bit. Barb B Q tonight. Still mostly N&Y.

Liz, have a safe drive and pleasant travels.

BB, I really do not get why people post stuff like that. Reddit seems like such a tabloid platform. Real friends are not going to care one way or the other. Such an invasion of your personal space.

Cecily, I have had mix ups with my credit in the past. They bought stuff my credit could not have qualified for. I was like see that is not me. I even had years of someone paying mortgage on time that was not me. It was forever trying to get it straight. I think I would consider putting camera s on your mailbox.

Ann and Paula, So sorry you are having mix ups with medical care. I do not like what I am seeing lately. My PCP told me that he won't be able to prescribe pain meds much longer. Politicians are changing medical practice. Pain management was suggested in the next year or so. We already see pain management for DW. Not enough providers. I also see a lot of treating the computer and not listening to the patient. Being a patient advocate is a huge nursing role.

Shel, dish washers have changed so much in the past few years. I bought one for the house and it is so quiet that I would have replaced it just for that. We have space for a dishwasher drawer but have not purchased it for the airstream. I try to be real quiet while I am washing.

Diane S, congrats on the 8 yr surg-i-versary and glad DH is healing well.

Diane O, it is hard for me not to think of good food vs bad food. While I was eating ice cream i thought it was good but bad that I did not turn it down. Still working on that.

More later, David
