When I was looking this up a while back, I was thinking Smoky Mtns because I have not been to Tennessee or NC and I have not seen mountains "smoke" But...did you have a particular part of the AT that you were interested in?

Nope, I was not thinking of a particular part, Shel.
And remember, everyone, the Appalachian Trail extends from Georgia to Maine. So we could do a bit or bits in Vermont and/or New Hampshire.

Well, we could do Washington any time June thru September-ish...come on up!
I am ok with humidity, but the thought of bugs makes me pause. (Western WA doesn't have many bugs) But then I remember I have anti-bug clothing of all sorts so I shall survive.

Okay, after my "I probably won't post this week" post, here I am! Sheesh!
Not much sleep. Fewer than 5 hours last night. Boooooo! Made it through the school day in good spirits. I attribute that fact to my students honoring my ability to be truthful with them. I told them I was behind in my teacher duties for report cards and I really had to focus on getting some individual testing done. They were champs! They understood and rallied together for me by staying on task and getting their project work done in partners and small groups. I only had to correct one of the boys for behavior, but a few more needed reminders on staying focused. I got about a third of my reading testing done and will get at least that much done tomorrow. The high kids go pretty quickly and I always leave them for the end.
Food was okay until after lunch when I started stressing about how much I needed to do. And since the Halloween candy still abounds, it was pretty easy to scout out some chocolate - sort of like a junkie jonesing for a fix, I went to the best stash in the school and raided the kindergarten teacher's drawer. We cracked up over my bee line to the chocolate drawer.
Yes, writing here is journaling for me. That sharing and building the connections with you all is the reason I have been hanging out here as long as I have. Even though I'm coming up on 6 years in a few weeks and I am not a poster child for WLS and have had struggles about my WLS on an emotional level lately, the openness on our board, the caring, the honesty - it all keeps me coming back!
Blessings all!
