You know when someone is really good at something, people rely on them more and more which sometimes makes it become a burden. And sometimes the recipients forget to express their recognition/appreciation. I have a friend who is a fanatic about biking. She planned a few bike trips for her bike club and was so good at it that it got to a point that people expected it even though she didn't want to do it anymore (at least not all the time). And she felt that they didn't really appreciate it (or at least recognize how much she put into it). But I think they did - they just assumed she knew how appreciated it was.

I can't believe it's now less than 2 weeks until Thanksgiving. I'm headed to MI for the holiday so I'll get some actual cold weather, which is a nice change. They had snow yesterday. I'm the chef in the family, so it's time to plan out the shopping/menu list. I use mostly my mom's recipes, which makes her still feel close to me. She was a fabulous cook.
My heart hurts for those of you going through difficult diagnoses with your loved ones.
Hope everyone has a lovely Friday!
Greetings Dear Ones
What a beautiful walk Liz. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Hope DH has a great birthday. Its wonderful that all your family can gather.
Weight is up to 142. I seem to have lost all my resolve around junk food. It used to be easy for me to pass up crackers and such but now they just sing to me. Being on a sort of messed up routine lately doesn't help. I had a dream last night that I was hiding from Dr. Cirangle because I knew he would lecture me. Gotta straighten up and fly right. I've been kind of having my own pity party over all the expectations I think people have of me and its no excuse to overeat.
And then I read Ann's post. It must have been hard for you Ann to put all that out there but glad you did. Its important to live in the moment and enjoy it and facing whats going on is part of it. I am so glad you get to stay at your home and DH can have treatment locally. Celebrity oncologist sounds good to me and hopefully will be helpful and avoid more neuropathy. There is indeed no place like home and all of us should celebrate that.
Can it really be time for the holidays? At least I am not cooking this year. We will go to friends so its only one day of pig out and not ages of leftovers. BB glad you got your floors in and you and DH can take your trip. What's your due date? What sign will baby girl have?
Off to the dentist this morning and then another dull day of gallery duty. At least I will be done with it for a couple of weeks and get DH through the cateract adventures. I must count my blessings even before calories.

I do so appreciate how honest and open we can be with one another here. It is definitely a form of therapy for me. Love to you all!

Me, too, Liz.
BTW, I think of you and your situation very often. In fact, I told my husband yesterday about your DH's Alzheimer's diagnosis, and what you have already been through.

Late to the party today. This had been as exhausting week. Hell, its been an exhausting year!
Day started off with a meeting with DS#3, the High School principal, Dean of Students and Superintendent to discuss his internet indiscretions. Another full week of suspension and we have to sign a contract that states of he does something similar he will have to go to before the Board of Education for an expulsion hearing. Yikes! And he is my well behaved, sweetheart, dependable kid!
Oncology appt to discuss CT results went as good as it could have gone. Spread is local to tube feeding site area without spread to lymph nodes, organs or bone. He will need another surgery to remove. Unknown yet if chemo will follow.
I didn't sleep well at all last night, or many nights this whole week so I crashed after we got home this afternoon.
Another GSA related special Board of Education meeting tomorrow morning at 7:00 am. A re- vote will be taken. I'm pretty sure it will pass.
Liz, great pics! Only a few more work days left. So happy for you!
Ann, so sorry about DH's diagnosis but happy you all can stay close to home for treatment.
No weight for me. That has been the least of my worries.
Paula, that is a very full plate you're dealing with. Very happy the new cancer diagnosis is localized.
How did DS3 respond to the meeting with the school bigwigs? That's a lot of pressure, I would bet.

Happy to hear that Ben's is considered a local occurrence! I'm glad you got in a good nap. Keep it up!
