Weight? Calories 879.

Good morning! It is 4:15 am here (but 7:15 at home). My 2 pm flight was moved to 8 am so I am going to be picked up at 5:30 am, getting me back home on the Cape by about 7. They want to beat the storm coming in and I am just as glad to be getting home earlier.

The OH conference was really good, especially the sessions yesterday. I would go again if there were more people I knew from online attending OR if it was on the east coast. Cecile C. was there yesterday and we attended sessions together. She is a lovely young woman and I really enjoyed meeting her in person.

  • The first session yesterday was on handling Ups and Downs in your life (in short form building a crisis plan whi*****ludes how to eat and be active ahead of a crisis so you are equipped). The presenters book is free on Amazon the next 3 days (Bariatric Mindset success - Kristin Lloyd).
  • Session 2 was on developing healthy coping mechanisms to avoid regain - basically how to handle food addiction tendancies
  • Session 3 was on how to best handle trigger foods and BED. The speakers hypothesis was that full denial just builds cravings because when you have the wanted food (glucose) your brain releases high amounts of dopamine. If you allow yourself to have that food in moderation in positive settings, your brain will be used to having it and stop releasing so much dopamine when you do hence making it a regular food, not a trigger one. Definitely "food for thought".

I skipped the after party last night because I needed to be on Eastern time for travel today.

Some crises at home: DD #3 was supposed to be with her Dad over the weekend. She has a form of epilepsy for which she has been medicated since age 22, but has never had a full seizure. Unfortunately she had a grand mal yesterday morning when she first woke up. She is okay, but was sleepy, dizzy and her tongue is sore from multiple bites. Needless to say, she couldn't drive to be with DH, so BIL stayed with him instead.

Have a satisfactory Sunday!

Supah Sunday!

Liz, glad you will beat the storm. Safe travels. Sorry about DD. Kiddos....stable until they are not.

Quick drive by.....on my way to morning gym class, then off for a fall hike on Mt. Si. When I told my husband my plans he arched an eyebrow and asked if on my way home I was going to stop at the Space Needle to run the stairs. No, no I am not, DH. But, I just might stop at a mall and buy more athletic wear in fall colors. ;)

Love everybody, today. Just everybody.

Shel

Sounds like DH may be getting a little jealous of your active lifestyle Shel. Have fun shopping!

Speaking of shopping, I did get those crazy boots. I had put them in my "cart" but didn't pull the trigger because they were going to be over $100 with shipping and really, how much am I going to wear them? I got a few e-mails from the company with, come back!, you are not done. Finally, one of the e-mails offered a 10% off code so that made it just under $100 with shipping and with our bad news I said F it and just ordered them, even if I won't wear them much! Better than eating I guess!

Oh my goodness, did they change where the reply and report buttons are on here or is my stress just making me careless. Two days in a row now I responded to a post with the report button instead of the reply - never happened before that. Sorry Liz and Devon if the Mods come after you (they shouldn't as I think I was able to cancel the "report"!

Those OH sessions sound good, I could have used hearing a few of them for sure.

Scary about DD and her grand mal. Yikes! Glad she is okay and that BIL was able to stay with DH

149.something. Up a little, no surprise.

Had a friend text last night, what could she do? I responded with "drink some wine with me" and she texted back that her DH was gone hunting for the weekend and to come over....so I did. Two glasses of Riesling and some much needed girl talk time....perfect! Wish you were all closer and I would have made it a party!

DS#2 had his Halloween party here last night. Great group of kids and they were all gone (or at least very quiet) by 1:00 am.

Love to you all!

I'm glad you are getting some time to take care of yourself. Stay away from the internet - nothing good to read there right now. I wish I was there to drink wine with you!

Paula, I would SO have been there for the wine and you and anyone else who showed up if I lived within three counties of you!

And good on ya for buying those boots. Where are you going to wear them? Any Damn Place You Want!

Our weekend trip with our DC friends was wonderful, albeit too short. Hubby and I chose a great hotel (of which our world-traveler friends highly approved) and took them to a fabulous steak house and wine bar, which also drew praise. For dinner, I chose steak tartare (a long-time fave), a Caesar salad, and a chocolate torte that I couldn't finish. And, with a hat tip to Paula, I enjoyed more than one glass of pinot noir. Hubby was so happy to see our friends, whom he'd not been with since 2007 when we were all in Paris with other good friends. Such a sweet weekend, but, as always it's delicious to come back home to "the owner's suite" (as we call our house).

Over the weekend I did count calories -- 2,500 on Friday and 2,000 on Saturday. Happily, I didn't lose any more weight, but I didn't gain any weight either. So here's the plan: This coming week I'm going to eat an average of 2,000 cals/day. If that doesn't make me gain weight I'm going to the doctor and request a thyroid test and a bone mass test. I know the internet says that most active women can maintain a healthy weight on 2,000 calories/day. But I still cannot believe that I deserve to eat that much food. Boy! What a warped view I have of how much food I'm "entitled" to eat after a lifetime of battling the bulge!

Yesterday's 6 V/Fs were strawberries, red grapes, spinach, kale, beans, tomatoes, chiles.

Fall is in the air, and frost is on the ground! Today will be a little housecleaning, a little cooking, and a lot of lazy.

Liz, I hope your trip home after OH goes well; sorry to hear about your DD's grand mal. Paula, keep caring for yourself first! Shel, enjoy your Sunday hike and mall shopping; loved your post. Devon, it's fun hearing about your puppies' lovely new homes. To both the Dianes, David, BB, Joey and Carbon (out there somewhere) I hope your weekends are all offering you joy and relaxation.

During my hike, one of my wonderings was "who did all the mowing before Ann got fit." Inquiring minds....

I am sitting on a schetchy bench outside a dressing room waiting for DD. I wouldn't have dared before losing The Weight. I would have simply stood in pain. Life is easier as a smaller person.

Sounds like your trip with old friends nourished mind, body and soul. Get er done!

Before Ann got fit, hubby did EVERYTHING!!! :)

He was diagnosed with cancer 2 months after I was sleeved. It is a karmic coincidence of the good kind that I finally got healthy before hubby needed help. I have never been more grateful to the cosmic powers for anything in my life.

Gratitude!
