Weight? Calories 1253. Not as bad as I thought they might end up considering the several give-away snacks in our goodie bag that I consumed (All high protein and around 100 calories a serving). As a whole they were pretty good other than one protein bar that I took a bite of and spit out (Primal Kitchen chocolate hazelnut bar). That was a yuck, and why bother??? We are supposed to go with empty bags today for more giveaways.

So the giveaways at the conference are good as well as the speakers. I feel pretty lonely as most everyone else seems to be either with a friend or a group. I also feel a little weird being this thin. Even people who had WLS question whether I did. Odd situation... I went to the meet and greet costume party last night but did not dress up. There were some amazing costumes! I danced for a bit but left by 9 because my inner clock was screaming that it was midnight. I do not know how long I will make it at the party tonight as I will probably feel the same. Also, I have a 5:30 am pickup tomorrow morning as my 2:00 pm flight was moved up to 8:20 am. Apparently a bad storm is coming into Massachusetts tomorrow night. I will be ready, so it is just as well. That way DD can get home before the storm too.

Speaking of storms, the DPW finally cleaned the storm drain on my street that caused the flood that drowned my car this summer! I have had PTSD every time it floods since then and refuse to go through it (take alternate roads). It will be interesting to see what happens with this storm.

Have a super Saturday!

That's weird that you're getting the "So thin!" reaction at a WLS conference, Liz. Looking forward to hearing about the speakers and programs. Have you met OH members you knew online?

No - there are a ton of people here. I don't know how I would find anyone except by chance.

Many of the people here are pre-op, but the stage people are in runs the gamut to many years Post-op. So with the number of people here it probably represents the "averages" that doctors quote for percent of excess weight lost and also percent with regain. Since I lost more than 100% of my excess weight, I guess I am at the extreme end of that curve.

It is interesting that one of the hottest topics at almost every session is plastics. And everyone asked if I did it (and how much it cost). Good thing I looked it up recently.

Good Morning!

I'm just back from my morning gym class. It would be a great day to hike but we are switching internet providers today and as IT chief I must be home for the install. I'll get Buster out for a walk later.

Paula. "There is always hope" said a former nun who used to be DD's violin teacher. It was, of course, during my treatment days and it hurt to hear. Pissed me off, in fact. Clearly she hadn't read the prognosis for my type of breast cancer -- easily searchable on google. I know other people looked it up because they told me about it but even that didn't bother me like "there is always hope."

But, over time, "there is always hope" stayed with me like no other comment. And, I finally saw that she was right and it became a bit of an anthem for my inner buffalo.

Devon is right, too. Stop looking up that stuff. Those studies are small; situations are different. There is always hope, my friend.

Ok, back to food. My co-op's apple orchard's crops are finally in the store. Opal and Jazz varieties....absolutely the best, so far. I am trying, once again, to be more structured in my weekend eating, always a challenge when I am mostly home.

Liz, interesting that you were an outlier at the OH conference. I don't even know what to make of that. Let us know if you learn the secrets of easy-peasy maintenance.

Hug your skinny,

Shel

Greetings Good People

Well I will start again as this Mac ate my post. Its been refusing to connect to the internet lately. Time to get my IT director involved - DH.

Interesting about OH Liz. Not sure I would go to one without a known buddy. I once went to an out of town support group and some people there were pre ops (so I thought) but turns out they were 4 years out with lap bands. So I guess all sorts of people show up. Hope there is some fun. Looking forward to hearing more product reviews.

Shel, sorry you missed your hike. IT is indeed critical as my DH attests. How else would he spend all day on iPad reading politics. Gotta make the grocery run and inevitably can't get everything in one place. Oh boo hoo, woe is me!

I need a double shot of JFDI today to get papers and house picked up for Halloween. Not sure of total guest list yet but it won't be large.

A bit of rain last night. Not good for the gallery roofing project which seems to be taking longer than expected.(duh, what doesn't). We have to stay closed while they do it as its not safe for customers.

Feeling much better after the achey flu shot day. A good sleep helps.

Paula, thinking of you and family.

Peace to all.

Wt ??? Still working on the house. Funny how you tell yourself someday I'm going to fix this right. That day is here. Working while the muse is with me. Saw DW yesterday as she came for DR appointment. We FaceTimed this morning. Technology is grand. Paula, prayers. More later, David

Quick check in:

Weight still stable. Have not chosen a detox day, but must. Perhaps one of you lovelies will ask me about the chosen day, if I do not announce it soon. I figure there is no use putting myself through the agony of a school Halloween trying to detox, so it should be after this next coming school week. As long as I am not gaining, I am okay emotionally.

Ivory puppy has a new home lined up. She'll be going to University Place, WA. Her new owners have a Aussie Mobile Pet Grooming franchise in the Tacoma area, so at least she'll be kept in good trim! LOL! Her new brother will be a 4 year old standard Poodle named Krypto. Ivory's new name is Justice.

So, Liz, would you go to another OH conference? I almost went one year, but then was not able to go due to something or other. Have not had a desire to go since. Probably because I'm in that regain statistic group. I have an insecurity issue (self inflicted, of course) when I feel I am not as good as I should be, or have not lived up to expectations, or view myself as a failure I don't want to put myself in a situation where that feeling is amplified. I'm working on it, people! I am.....LOL!

Good and healing thoughts to those who need them - which is ALL of us! Enjoy what is left of your Saturday evening people!

Love to all!
