Weight 114.5, calories 765. Super high protein, low carb works at least in the short run. I dropped 2 pounds this week and my carb cravings subsided (the latter was the reason I did it). I was never hungry. In fact I had planned to eat more yesterday but couldn't fit it in. But I am happy to add back some veggies, fruits, nuts (and wine). I don't want to drop more weight, but hopefully the carbs won't call to me quite as much. The only issue I find with that diet is enhanced constipation followed ultimately by a need for the body to do a clean out (happened yesterday). I suppose I could have taken Metamucil along the way but didn't get around to it.
DH and I didn't make it to Provincetown (or Martha's Vineyard). He didn't feel well in the morning, then just didn't really want to go. So I found a local hike around a pond which I figured was a couple of miles but ended up being closer to 4.5. We stopped at the store afterwards and he should have stayed in the car but came in and got lost (was exhausted). I had to take him home without getting the groceries - during the ride he basically had a tantrum and said I treat him like a child. Which is probably true sometimes (as one of the other wives in my support group said it is like having a 12 year old).
I'm going to the OH conference next weekend. I booked it a long time ago using a small number of flight miles and figured it would be a good last pre-retirement trip. It is barely before I'm done working. One DD is coming to stay with DH on Thursday-Friday and the other Saturday-Sunday. He will enjoy their visits.
One DD is actually a DSD, but estranged from her mother and as a result has become much closer to us (long story on the mother thing). When I talked to her the other night she admitted that she was having financial issues because she has been out of work for quite a while and is having a hard time getting contract wor****il she lands a position. She has been a high-power marketing executive and has an apartment in the upper west side in NYC, so her rent must be ginormous. She has something she think will result in a job offer, but it is taking a long time to work through the process. I offered to help financially if necessary. I think she was surprised by the offer, but I told her she is our child too and the others have needed help periodically. Anyway kind of a bonding experience, but I sure hope she gets a job soon!
Have a Super Saturday!

Good Morning !
Liz... good job on your decarbing. OH conference is something I'd like to do soon. Devon... get that calendar cleared up ! Diane.. keep drinking that coffee as you prepare for carpet cleaners ! Hope the rain clears things south of you ! Paula... get the boots ! They look perfect for some light hearted fun with jeans !
Had bad reaction to the flu and pneumonia immunizations I received in my right arm Thursday. (They didn't use my left arm because of my previous DVT.) Site was very painful, but I was increasingly achy yesterday, and ended up with 102 fever and in bed at 6:30 PM. Fever broke during the night, and feeling MUCH better today. Small price to pay, and better than the alternative. BB... what is your OBGYNs recommendation for you ? Has anyone had the "double dose" for people 65+ ?
Enjoy the day !

No egg allergies for me anyway (and it feels ok now).

Adding to the 2017-18 flu shot database:
Yes, this fall's flu shot did bruise my arm (VERY unusual; it was administered by the same pharmacist who's given me my flu shots for years). I didn't get a fever, but I did feel icky for 2-3 days afterward.
And the same results were reported by half a dozen senior citizens (71-72 y.o.) at the reunion this past weekend.
Might be something about this year's particular flu vac strain. ???

Wt unchanged. Had only one green shake the past 2 days. I just forgot to drink them.
We are getting some much needed rain today. And maybe tomorrow. The soil around here is very porous so it will take a lot of rain to have water standing. Burn bans at our home near the city. Oddly have not seen any here. I have a burning barrel that I burn the shop scraps in. I like to wait for rain until I burn. DS#1 has a fireplace and could use some to use as kindling but I have plenty.
Have a great day. David

Scale finally started moving South. Fairly good eating day yesterday. DH and I did go to Red Lobster for dinner and I had one cheddar bay biscuit. All other choices were good. Got hungry again around 8:30 (we at dinner at 5), waited for about an hour and hunger didn't go away so had a apple, better than the ice cream sandwich I wanted and less calories then the protien bar I considered. All in all I came in just under 1300 calories for the day. Did get 30 minute exercise DVD in as well.
Doing a food drive with the scouts this morning. Not sure what else is on the docket.
DH is already on his first nap. I had to drive home from dinner last night as he was fading fast. The ultrasound Wednesday showed a 12 cm fluid filled mass in his belly, most likely an infection filled abscess. He meets with a surgeon on Tuesday.
Supah Saturday friends!
So sorry DH is dealing with this after all he has already been through. Yeah for southerly moving scales!
