Friday October 20
Weight 115, calories 859.
DH and I are either going to Provincetown or Martha's Vineyard for a day trip today. It is supposed to be another nice day and they are good places to visit off-season. Yesterday we took a walk at a local reserve/estuary. Though it was on the water so pretty on some trails, it was also close to the road, so there was a lot of road noise (so not as nice as the last place I found which was quiet and peaceful). We will stop at the National Seashore on the way to Provincetown and that should feel more naturalistic.
I wish I had sleft more last night: I woke up at 4 and couldn't go back to sleep (it is 5:20 now).
Have a Fruitful Friday!

My Fruitful Friday involves local Asian Pears. Love those.
I haven't been able to respond much on the boards recently but I have been enjoying the discussions!
Paula, so nice (and motivating) to see you refinding your groove. I gotta think that the exercise, in particular, makes you feel more like yourself.
About food/love/comfort. Food has forever been associated with shame for me as the one inexplicably fat child of the family. Of course, it became my private super-friend. Publicly, it was a centerpiece for all gatherings. Thinking of the extended family potlucks......Lordy, what a buffet! I'm no longer angry at my mom for her part in my food-weirdness. She, too, was doing the best she knew how to do. Over and done. It feels wonderful to have move past that. She is still irritating in many other ways ;)
What's your fruit today?

Home again today. Another good day of eating yesterday (no exercise). Scale still isn't moving but it will eventually!
Still need to color my hair, that didn't get done yesterday but exercise room is almost back to normal. It is supposed to be a nice day here today, so perhaps a nice walk on a trail.
Liz and Shel, you are both always on fun adventures. I couldn't get DH to go out do so many things like Liz's DH does! My DH can be a bit of a bump on a log anyway and couple it with him trying to fight off this belly infection, no way would I get him to hike or sight see. I have a good friend that enjoys adventures just as much as me but she works too darned much. She promises sometime soon!
Our adventures are EXTREMELY tame compared to Shel's! Sorry to hear your DH is dealing with an infection. I hope it clears up soon.

Greetings Adventurers
Well I think I weigh 139.5 still but I got out the heavy duty jammies last night because 1. nothing else was clean and 2. it rained a lot yesterday and it was chilly. So heavy pjs make a difference. (so I tell myself). It was sunny earlier but we just had a fast and furious downpour. Hope this rain heads south to the fires. Its so overcast I need to turn on a light!
Asian pears! Makes me want to go get pears today. Someone brought quite a few Bartlets into the studio off their own tree but I missed out. Lots of people have their own fruit trees here but they attract bears and such.
Liz sorry you didn't sleep well. One of the luxuries of retirement is getting to sleep in. But somehow the world intrudes. DH wakes up early and comes in and yacks at me when I have had no coffee!
Made lentil soup last night with veggies. What a great comfort food. Tonight I think I will try the chicken white bean chili. But I also have a hankering for steak and the last of the years asparagus.
No football game tomorrow. Our team must rest up after being brutalized by Ohio State. I am trying to become a fan of some west coast teams like the Ducks or Stanford but its just not the same.
Carpet cleaners on the way for Monday so we have to shovel a path. Then the house keeper and we should be ready for halloween. I have a friend who does a little puppet show at the front door that kids just love. He does voices and hands out candy with the puppet.
Today's mission is to fix some data stuff at the art gallery and then make art. Yesterday I made little condor figures since the Yurouk Tribe is reintroducing California Condors to the area. Also made a hippo which, as far as I know, is not being introduced to northern California.
Still have piles of estate paperwork to do. My mink coat should arrive by ups today. I will probably never wear it but its too lovely to give away.
Now its time for - you guessed it - nectar of the gods with cream. Diane S
Would love to see a picture of you in the mink!

Quite late to the party, but I wanted to chime in today.
I am having the darnedest time eating in a logical and healthy fashion. I am not sleeping much either, which I have a feeling is a large part of the reason. Last night was the 5th or 6th night in a row of about 4-5 hours sleep max. One of the pups has diarrhea and has been needing to go out at least twice during the night. (Vet doesn't want to give him meds because he's only 13 weeks and dealing with vaccinations, which can be tough on a pup's immune system. So we are back to a bland diet, but have to give enough to sustain growth...yadadadada!)
I have been considering upping the vyvanse. That in itself is a bit alarming to me. Addict raising it's lovely head...
Feeling well enough though to get in a good work out this afternoon.
Is it bad that all day I have been dreading the weekend? My weekend is so jammed packed with obligations there is quite literally no "me" time. I realized last night that I am "booked" from 9:00 am through at least 6:00 pm tomorrow. Sunday is very much the same. It is no wonder to me when I sit and think about it, that I have little to no energy to think about food prep and planning.
Someday...
Sleep is critical! I think you need to make sure you get enough before you consider going up on the medication. I think it is number one for health, mood AND weight (at least for me).
