Thursday September 28
Weight 115.5, calories 1584. As I typed the date I remembered that it was either my older brother or Father's Birthday (the other is September 30). My father has been gone for 50 years (and my brother for 48), so it is hard to remember. I'll have to see if my younger brother does.
Anyway, I did have a better work day yesterday from home. I did more of what I enjoy (investigating issues and seeking solutions). I did have to intercede on behalf on one of my people who is being asked to finish a project started by a summer intern but not finished (he is leaving tomorrow). It is similar to the work she has been told to transition elsewhere (tbd - I'm supposed to find a place). The project is in bad shape and our boss says it has to be finished because it is high profile. My employee rightly asked why it was done this way then (intern with no oversight)???? These new managers are going to wreak havoc!
DH had a better day yesterday. He went to the beach with his brother and watched 2 episodes of Vietnam (recorded on PBS). He slept good the night before which makes a big difference. Today I'm done early so I should come up with something to do this afternoon.
Anyway have a Tutu Thursday (probably should have used that on Tuesday, but I'll forget by then)!

Still waiting for quality bathroom time and for internet service to return. Thanks, David, Diane and others for your internet empathy. Yes, we all depend on it so much.
Yesterday's 5 veggies and fruits were carrots, butter lettuce, tomatoes and strawberries. Veggies and fruits were fewer yesterday because I did something unusual. I listened to my body in the morning, which after aquarobics class said, "I'm really hungry and want an Egg McMuffin." So I thought, why not. And nobody died.
My knee still twinges, but is healing. I'll be very respectful of it today in yoga class.
Such interesting posts here of late. Thanks to all for sharing your news, whether big or small.
And a Tutu Thursday it is!

Good morning!
My internet is down this morning, too. Grrrrrr.
I hiked with my neighbor yesterday. The big news is that we missed a bear sighting by a few minutes. It was 3 feet from the trail eating blueberries. The hikers coming down the trail told us they left the trail and circled way around.
My neighbor is super anxious and really vocal. The louder she got, the more determined I was to see the bear.....but 3 feet was too close so we were both loud, hoping it would move off the trail.
Long story short, we didn't see the bear. N kept saying it was "gone" and I kept pointing out that it was still there, we just didn't see it. We were in the last few switchbacks before the top of the mountain. The other side of the mountain was a drop off. The bear would have to pass by us if he wanted to leave.
I am sad that we missed the bear, but am tickled to have been so close. I am sure there have been other close encounters, the only difference this time was that we, the people, knew about the bear.
Pics of Mt Dickerson below. No bear, but 360 views of mountains all around. ****ep hoping to spot the bear in a picture.) It was clear and we could see peaks stretching across Western WA. Fall colors have started. Amazing!

I have come to really appreciate the beauty of my native Iowa. Rolling hills (that would be called flat by others) that feed the world. A different kind of a beauty but beauty none the less. I bet your OK is similar.

Sadie and I do some therapy time at the VA this morning, in Arts and Crafts. She seems to seek out the dementia patients, and is great with them.
