Oh, Paula. This will be so hard for you to watch. But (like BB says,) it sounds like it needs to happen. Take care.

Yes, knowing where the line is between protecting and enabling (and not crossing it) is a HUGE challenge as a parent!

160.8 today

I haven't been sleeping very well. I think it's all the dust in my house. Yuck. Please let the floors get done soon!!

Today I am making a concerted effort to eat a little bit more purposefully. I've mostly felt not so happy about my snacking choices. And so therefore I packed a morning snack of greek yogurt, a banana, and granola, and an afternoon snack of hummus, carrots, and pretzels. I'm hoping that I can primarily eat normally, just a little heftier snacks. My biggest concern is not changing my eating so much that it's hard to return to maintenance eating after baby.

Hi Guys,

Drive by! Our forecast is officially "smoke" Instead of a picture of sun/rain, etc, there are just squiggles. Ash on the ground this morning. Looks like dusk outside. Small potatoes compared to the people who are living much nearer than the fires or those poor souls in the South with rain, etc.

Hug your skinny.

Shel

No weight today, but it is not good. I have got to just do this!

My ex's wife texted me Friday night at 11 pm. I told her not to contact me after 9 unless it's an emergency, which set her off! She texted her outrage and a really mean text. I remembered my boss' wise words, "Do you think she's your friend?" and laughed out loud all by myself in my dark bedroom. Then she started calling every 5-10 minutes. I rejected 3 calls and she gave up. This is getting out of hand.

My eating has gotten healthier, but still too much, which is what got me fat in the first place. Instead of snacking last night, I decided I really was hungry so I had a unadulterated, premade shake. That is my new plan. Plus more fresh fruit and veggies.

1,500 members? Yikes, I didn't think we had so many. Lurkers, please raise your hands.

Greetings Great Ones

138 today so at least I did not do a lot of damage at the Labor day cook out. Someone brought smoked scallops which were fabulous. There were lots of healthy choices though I hit on the cheese tray too many times. Didn't even taste the dessert as that would have been pushing it. Always a good time with these friends.

Diane O, you and I are alike in the coffee and read the posts thing. A favorite part of each day. Its fun to shop for plants and arrange your garden. Someone gave me some purple plants when we painted our house lavender. A princess bush and mexican sage. They are doing well. Maybe I will figure out how to post a picture.

Our smoke has cleared up a little as the wind is now coming off the ocean. I have some friends who live pretty close to the inland fire. I heard that they are camping out somewhere so I may call them and invite them here for a few days.

Paula and BB so sorry for your stress on the kid who won't grow up thing. Seems to be a lot of that going around. College kind of teaches you to be a grown up but its not for everyone.

Liz don't work to hard (except planning for retirement). Beautiful hydrangea. I have some too that someone gave me as tiny starts. They are huge bushes now and do well in our acid soil.

Joey, I don't really have a ratatouille recipe. I just take a small eggplant, small onion, about two tomatoes, a zucchini and a sweet red pepper, chop them all up, brown them in some olive oil, then cook on low heat for awhile until they are all soft. Supposedly you are supposed to stir it often. Add a bit of water when its dry. When served, add some parmassan cheese on top. When cooked soft it doesn't look so great but it tasted good. I also threw in a clove or two of garlic.

Kiln results today so I gotta get moving. Peace all. Diane S

Hi all,

Busy weekend - mostly puppy duty and puppy chores, and entertaining puppy visitors, so fun, but tiring and doesn't leave time for much else.

Weight was at the top of my unacceptable acceptable range. Must dial it back a bit.

Well, it's Tuesday and it's back to the grind!
