Greetings Labor Day Maintainers
Thanks for the kind words yesterday. So glad we have this little group of 1500+. New members and lurkers chime in and tell us about yourselves.
Off to the traditional cookout today. We will make more smoke to add to the smokey air though the winds changed a little last night. Today seems about the same.
I made a modified ratatouille last night. Just eggplant, tomatoes and onions with a bit of garlic. It was great. DH won't eat it so I made him taquitos. I had carrots and humus for lunch and a persian cucumber. Even with all those veggies I am 138.5 bordering on 139. Still I am going to get more into veggies. Gotta do it while they are available. I am taking humus and veggies to the cookout today. Love those persian cucumbers. They have a slightly lemon taste.
Well salmon fishing was a big industry here. This past year I don't think they even had a commercial season. Not enough fish due to warming of the waters and not enough flow in the rivers due to previous drought. The rivers are fuller now thanks to last winter's record rains but it takes a couple of years for the fish to catch up. They are removing dams from the Klamath river I think though farmers are fighting about it. And southern cal wants our water. So there it is. In the midwest I thought nothing of buying farm raised salmon but now I know the difference. We have had none this year. Sad.
Lol auto correct nachos. I remember as a lawyer doing a letter talking about the parties in interest. Spell checked ok. Then I noticed that parties had been typed as "panties". LOL.
Great pictures Shel. There is a local book recently published about the best hikes in our county. I keep meaning to pick it up.
Yep the charcouterie is loaded with salt. But it so good. Try turkey pepperoni sometime. Low cal and I think its better than the pork stuff.
We watched a pretty good sci-fi last night. "Ex Machine". Usually I get sick of that stuff but this had a plot and was not just a bunch of exploding aliens.
Have a great holiday. Diane S
Great tips, Diane -- turkey pepperoni and "Ex Machine." Will look for 'em.

Hey the OH newsletter has a good article on what to do when you are stressed and at risk of getting off track. 5 things, such as know who you can call for emotional support and then do it, keep a journal of feelings, have a back up exercise plan even if its only 10 minutes of walking around in the house. have a top 20 protein list, and I forgot the last one. Good reading. Diane S
