Mike, great intro photos!

I know the scales make some people nuts. Daily works for me, but it isn't best for everyone.

Here's what the research about maintenance (done on the folks in the National Weight Control Registry*) says: People who weigh themselves "frequently" (daily or weekly) are more likely to maintain their weight losses than people who avoid the scales or weigh less frequently. Here's a link to some of the NWCR findings:

Obviously, it makes sense to weigh under the same conditions and on the same scale. My two cents' worth.

Sounds like personal accountability is where the juice is.

*People in the NWCR are folks who've lost at least 30 pounds and maintained their weight loss for at least a year.

Greetings Fine Friends

137.5 today so I guess that vacation pound(s) is still lurking. I need to take the advice given to Paula and get cracking and be more careful. Just discovered that the different brand of GY i picked up (on sale) had a whopping 290 calories per cup! I don't eat a whole cup but still way too high. Cheap food = high calorie.

Hey are all the Devon puppy pictures on Facebook? Guess I had better look. Don't want to miss out. I am such a dinosaur I don't look at it much unless my niece posts a pic of her little boy.

Well today's activities consist of banking paperwork and gallery check cutting. Hardly aerobic. I woke up feeling sort of achey today which I think is just due to age so moving around would be a good thing.

Thanks Duffman for sharing pictures of your doggie and your life. Hike looks like a good one. Ditto the dog.

Yep Paula you and I need to get on this bit of regain together. Hope things go well for Ben on the follow up. Too many demands on your time result in convenience eating which is often not the best. Liz is right to make a plan which will become a habit. I used to eat grapes a lot which were filling and low calorie in spite of the sweetness. Must do that. And get back to the baby carrot habit. I think I will revisit my old 4 years of food journal that helped me maintain and see what I was doing.

Yikes Liz, rough seas on a slow ferry. I would have been barfing. Always need a load of dramamine on a boat.

Well maybe I will go lift weights at the gym today. Haven't done that in awhile. Time to get back in action.

Still, life is good. And college football starts Saturday for us Cornhusker fans. Go Big Red. Diane S

Weight is fine and stable. Still too high, but stable.

Puppy care continues. A 3 pound gain in 6 weeks is pretty darn good for me. I'm 100% okay with how things have gone this time around in the eating department.

My reply to Paula's post is about all I have to give today. LOL! Made me reflect far too much about my own eating dysfunctions! Oh, bother....

Happy Thursday, which means it's almost Friday, which means a short teaching day followed by a 3 day weekend.

YAY!

Wow. So I just found some old pre-op videos I had discussing WLS. First, I have to say--I'm kind of impressed with myself! Why did I spend all those years being so hard on myself?! (And why were others? Those dummies!)

But I am SO happy I was able to think that way back then. This sounds stupid, but I'm so proud of myself. One thing I said in my video was addressing the concern that WLS is "cheating" or the "easy way out." My response is "whether people think it's cheating or not, I have to do better for myself."

*Do better for yourself*!!!!!! Zing. We're doing this because we love ourselves and want better for ourselves.

Gosh, I almost wish I could go through it again. What a cool journey.
