Back to reality! We had to switch to the slow ferry (2.5 hours) vs. the fast ferry (1 hour) to get home yesterday as the fast ferry wasn't running. The winds were still around 25 in Nantucket in the afternoon with fairly large sea swells. The slow ferry carries trucks and cars so it is a lot heavier. We were home at 6:30 so able to have a relatively normal evening. DH is tired though - lots lot sleep disturbances last night (I have found that a fairly fixed schedule is best for him).

Weight 115.5, calories 722 (after 1542 and 1609 days). Nice that my body can take a couple of up days without going kerflooey.

LOVE those puppy pictures Devon - I really can't get enough of them! Speaking of which DD is getting a 5 month old Catoula Cur, which is a dog which apparently hails from Louisville. Should be interesting as she typically is not an animal person (though DS is like me).

Have a terrific Thursday!

Weight up to 146.something. First time I have been over a normal BMI since surgery. I had already decided to "get serious" about getting this weight off come the first of the month (how many of us have starting a new "diet" the first of the month in the past? I bet most of us!) Makes me feels kinda sad - same shi* different year! Makes me worried I won't be successful even with VSG. Lots of poor me, weak me, going on in my head today. I need some of your all's positive vibes!

We head to Mayo this morning for two days of appointments and testings - swallow study to see if Ben can start to introduce liquids then soft foods back to his diet. I think he also has a CT and I know blood work too. We will end with seeing the surgical resident(s) on Friday.

My intentions are to start using MFP again, cut out the sweets (my downfall), and try to stay under 1,200 calories a day. I may try to go lower but will start there. Back to VSG basics!

MFP, pre-planned meals and snacks, and lots of water are what keep me in line. Oh, and keeping busy (sounds like you have that one). Best of luck on Bens tests! He must be more than ready for diet advancement.

I am pretty boring as well (tend to eat the same stuff a lot). I had to ban almonds for a while as way too many handfuls were finding their way into my mouth. I usually have cheese sticks, nut thins/hummus, yogurt, quest protein bars or halo top ice cream (new treat).

Paula... you've absolutely got this !!If you have one flat tire, you don't slash the other three ! Grab a patch or a plug to keep you moving forward until you can put the new tire on. You have a lot on your plate... be gentle with yourself and try to build on what has been successful. HUGS !!

I love this analogy - " If you have one flat tire you don't slash the other three". I am going to use this one....

Paula, MFP + sleeve has been the winning combination for me. It's not just the tracking, but the PLANNING that MFP affords me. First thing every morning I weigh and enter that weight into MFP. Then I fill out my MFP food diary -- planning what I'll eat throughout the day. Yes, things sometimes change, but that night or the next morning I modify the entries. Planning my day's menu before I eat any food makes my INTENTION visible to me.

And I second what DianeO said above.

You are in the same situation I found myself in earlier this year. When scale was about 167 after New Year's that put me over the edge to "overweight" bmi. Just barely at like 25.1 or 25.2. But still. It scared me. Even though it teetered around 163, 164...going into that territory really shocked me. I wasn't sure I could do it. Sure, I'd always wanted to lose more weight after surgery, but I never had. Could I? And so the those old tapes started playing. I never could lose weight, why was this any different, yada yada.

I think a few things really helped: obviously the sleeve. But also knowing you are so close to goal. When I was trying to lose weight at 250+, a 2lb. loss felt like such a drop in the bucket, but it's noticeable where you are now, and may be enough to keep on going.

I think this is the perfect weekend to do a little meal prepping and make it a fun game! Lots of great end-of-summer veggies and fruits to play around with. Maybe make some Richie's turkey meatloaf (you can even make in muffins and freeze). I found that working out really helped me this time. Especially because I found it hard to eat my nighttime sweets knowing all the work it took to burn 250 calories!
