So.... there is a possibility that I will get severance when I retire (and I might be able to leave a few weeks earlier)! Apparently HR has established a rule that if new job descriptions established after a department is reorganized change more than 20% from the previous one that the employee must apply for the position. Unless something changes over the next few weeks ALL the job descriptions in our department are changing so everyone will have to apply. The way they do it is that the individual is given 60 days to apply for the job and if they don't get it they are let go at the end of the 60 days with severance (which in my case would be a year if salary). Those eligible for retirement (like me), get the severance and take retirement (we don't lose any retirement benefits). This is probably going to happen mid September which would mean leaving in mid November. I don't see why they would rehire me if I am leaving a few weeks later. So I am crossing my fingers that this actually happens.

I'm working a short day today, then going to the beach I think as this is the last really warm day predicted for a while.

Have a terrific Thursday!

Fingers crossed for you!

Your company's reorganization is such a beast....it is hard to imagine getting any other work done in that environment.

I know! The people in our department have been "in limbo" since January! I just realized yesterday that there is really no place for my boss either (wrong skill set - too high a grade).

Woohoo Liz! That's awesome news

Weight: 160.2 (down 0.2). I'm hoping the scale is practically the same as it was after my first visit--or close. So it's been I was 154 when I found out I was pregnant. The recommended guideline is only 1-5lbs. in the first trimester...so I'm over that no matter how you slice it. But here's how I'm rationalizing it: most of the weight gain was in the first couple weeks, so I'm telling myself that's my water weight rebound that just isn't going to have a chance to come off until after pregnancy. How does that sound? I'm also happy that I'm still down several pounds from my high weight this year, 167. I really only had that for like a day, so I pretty much got up to 165...but still. Having 10-12lbs. off really helped!

I'd really like to keep my weight to around 160 for the next 2 weeks. We shall see. At least it's not a boatload of gain yet, though. Winter is coming.

I got to cook a homemade dinner last night. Well, halfway. Did I tell y'all that we're having the floors in our house redone? It's a disaster! Better now than with a baby, right?! It went kind of like "if you give a mouse a cookie." I put my foot down about needing to replace our puppy-problem carpet. We didn't really want to recarpet just to have the same problem, so we're putting in wood floors. And so at that point hubby decided that if we were ever going to replace our dated 80's tile, we'd better do it before the wood floors so that we didn't hurt wood. Luckily they did most of the demo while we were in Las Vegas last week, but still--fine silt chalk dust EVERYWHERE. And until yesterday, everything was tarped and taped off so that I literally couldn't work in the kitchen. Dinner was simple (and not healthy) beef stroganoff hamburger helper, pears, and watermelon. But oh did it hit the spot. This pregnancy is pretty weird. I'm normally a foodie, but very simple basic (carby) food has sounded best so far.

It was 61 degrees when I woke up this morning. Just lovely! I can feel call beckoning :) My second appointment is today!!!

I think you are doing great! Don't stress too much (just be aware). We know that it is easier said than done...

Liz, hope your transition works out even better than expected.

I am typing this on my phone while waiting on my eyes to dilate. I won't be any good for the rest of the day. DW will have to drive. She is a good driver. Car to be repaired tomorrow so that will make 3 trips this week. Yuck.

Eating went better yesterday. Scales were embarrassing. If I type it in it becomes more real so 'head in sand' as Shel would say. I ate it so logical consequences and all. No more watermelon

More later, David

I though****ermelon was pretty innocuous (easy for me to say - I rarely eat it)?

The type I eat are very high in sugar. I can easily have a 7 lb fluctuation. If I keep buying them the weight hangs on.

I have said it before, if my life were a soap opera, it would be canceled for being too stupid and unbelievable. No weight today, because I was in such a hurry this morning. My daughter called in the middle of the night because she was taking her husband to the hospital with trouble breathing. In the morning, the doctor told her that he had a heart attack, they don't know how bad yet. He's being transferred, will have more tests, then possibly a stent or whatever he needs.

He has not been following doctors' orders about diet, therapy, etc., etc. All the excuses / reasons in the world mean squat. If you do not follow the rules, there are consequences.
