Saturday August 12
Weight ?, calories 1744.
We are in New Hampshire this morning. I am looking at beautiful Newfound Lake, writing this on my iPad and drinking coffee while everyone else sleeps. Our friends have a fancy cabin with one bedroom - the rest of us (5) are on futons in the main room. DD came with a friend last night, so makes up 2 of the 5. Another set of family friends is renting the cottage 2 houses down so we will be doing dinner with them tonight. If the weather permits (it is cloudy with a chance of "stray showers"), we may go out on the boat later.
DH seemed to do well sleeping last night (didn't have any odd nighttime action), but I hope he got enough sleep. We were about an hour later getting down than usual but hopefully he will sleep until his normal time (about 2 hours from now). If not, maybe he can nap this afternoon when everyone is outside.
Enjoy your Saturday!

So much real life going on amongst us -- vacations with friends and family, kids struggling to find their way, some good self-care, puppies and dams and their issues, and summer weather of all kinds.
I wonder if other creatures imagine they're a failure if every day of their life isn't perfect. My own perfection standards are ridiculous. Success and failure, kindness and cruelty, beauty and horror all co-exist. None of my days are as bad as the best days some humans endure. My privilege is abundant and, too often, goes unacknowledged.
Yesterday, it rained, and we enjoyed being "home alone," one of our favorite ways to be. And John Deere finished repairing my lawn mower's fuel filter and brought the mower back, so I know what I'll be doing tomorrow. :)
We leave for Vancouver next Tuesday. Yippee! BTW, my third surgiversary will come and go while we're gone. So I'll let my Tuesday morning weight stand for my surgiversary weigh-in. This morning I looked up my Second Surgiversary morning weight on MFP and found that today I weighed 0.2 pounds more than I did then. Pretty sure I can match last year's weigh-in by Tuesday. :) Wait ... what was I saying earlier about "perfection"? LOL! I'm such a mess!
Happy Saturday to all. Gratitude!

I'd say .2 is pretty close to perfection (though I do understand what you mean - I'd be doing the same thing trying to get off the .2 - LOL).

Addition: it is drizzling here - everyone else is still asleep (8:30 am), but I am hearing loons calling over the lake!!!

Wow, Liz! Your lake looks exactly like "Golden Pond." Thanks for the photo.

I'll take another one later if possible on the lake - no sun so it won't be too bright.

Happy Self Care Saturday? What's on YOUR agenda?
There was rain a moment ago! It has already stopped (and the hourly forecast says zero percent chance) but I think weather has shifted which hopefully means air quality will be better. Mt Pilchuck, here I come.
A bear and her cub have been roaming the local greenbelts, causing excitement. I am particularly tickled that they were spotted behind Whole Foods. The closest sighting was directly across the street in our neighbor's backyard. Their greenbelt and ours connect but (being me) I think there is zero percent chance the bear will make that 2 minute amble even tho it is along a salmon spawning stream. A bit early, I think, for salmon, tho I am no bear so what do I know?
Devon....so sorry about household diarrhea and Frenchie's procedure. I hope that resolves. Carbon, I hope things are improving where you live. But, I looked at a firemap last night and there are sure a lot of fire icons up there!
Ok, time to pull my hiking stuff together, love you all.
