Weight 114.75, calories 1175. The get together last night was really enjoyable. Though we all knew that half of us had dementia, I don't think a normie would have known. It is a really friendly and outgoing group!

Carbon, it is so sad that so many lives are being impacted by the smoke. I sure hope it clears now (for you too Shel).

Family secrets and their effect on subsequent generations is interesting. My own family was super quiet about stuff, so there was not much information, but my grandfather and grandmother on my fathers side were divorced and the two sons (my father and his brother) were split between the two. My grandmother ran out of money and sent my father back to live with his father, brother, and my great grandmother in his mid-teens and was then subjected to years of hearing how awful his mother was. He did finally rekindle a relationship as an adult (at the urging of my mother) and found out that she really was a good person (and perhaps my great grandmother was the cause of most issues). Then on DH side, his grandfather was a brutal drunk who fathered 11 children and beat his Parisian born wife. We think he might have abused the older children too (never talked about) because the 3 girls all had some problems coping at some point in their lives. My MIL was the strongest woman I've ever known, but she had a "breakdown" in her early teens and went to live with an Aunt. The cause was never discussed, but she had some really disturbing hallucinations in her early dementia which we wonder about.

On the affair note, we had a friend who separated from his wife perhaps 20-25 years ago and had an affair. He even lived with the other woman for a while. He and his wife ultimately reconciled and seem to have been very happy since. I'm not sure I could have forgiven him, but who knows? On that toptic, DD is talking about taking back her boyfriend who cheated on her twice (the most recent while they were living together)! We are NOT thinking that is a good idea, but though I have expressed my concern about her being hurt again I have to be careful and not alienate her.

So I thought this would be a quick post! Thanks friends for listening.

Have a wonderful skinny day (and a baby building day, BB)!

Good morning everyone.

Yes the family secrets. Just yesterday was having tea with a friend who had just found some papers in an old chest when was cleaning out her recently deceased mother's closet. Things do not seem to be adding up to what my friend has been told all her life. Mysteries.

Diane sorry about your husbands impending eye issues but a wonderful trip sounds great! Glad Liz that you had a good time.

The smoke continues, BB glad you are not here as you don't need this right now, but the weatherman has promised rain for Sunday. We need an Ark 's worth.

enjoy your Thursday.

Good morning, all!

Carbon, I smiled about your rain comment. "I hear it is going to rain on Sunday" has replaced "How ya doing" as a general greeting. Yes, let's wa**** all out. (I hesitate to compare our experience to BC's. We just have the secondhand smoke and none of the major damage. Still, we complain.)

Liz, I'm glad that support group is working out so well. DianeS, I'm looking forward to your trip to France!

Hug your skinny. Do a rain dance, too, please.

Shel

Trying to catch up with some of the posts from the last few days. I know I have been MIA......busy, busy busy helping Ben, taking care of the house and kids and I did another Senior photo shoot on Tuesday and edited pics most of the day yesterday!

Eating like crap, not exercising. Will be happy to return to work on Monday - more structure = more success in the eating dept. I will probably be adding another day of work soon - 4 days/week instead of 3. My 2 co-workers that just got back from maternity leave want to reduce their hours. I did the same when my brood was young - time to let someone else get the time away from work that they need. My brood is mostly grown and can take care of themselves!

206.2 The Jersey tomato - God's gift! Being poor makes me appreciate them more. When I leave for work in the morning, I grab a few ripe tomatoes, one to eat, the rest to gift. Soon, I will also have peppers to pick.

Busy as always and trying to minimalize. I still have my parents' stuff, my aunt keeps giving me things, and I am sorting through everything from a huge estate after hours. My aunt keeps asking about my grandmother's China that she wants me to have, but I haven't had a chance to clear space. I don't really care if she gives it somebody else, but if I say that, she would be hurt. She really would, but I do want it, so clearing space will be the goal for this weekend.

Discussing my classmate's recent suicide, my aunt told me that one of her first cousins shot his wife in the face then committed suicide leaving young children behind. What?!! It is a family scandal that was never discussed! I searched it online but found nothing.

Ah yes, the orbiting china. My mom wanted me to have hers but I already have my grandmothers and never use it. It will all land on my niece. I was offered my MIL 's china too. Seems like no one wants fine china anymore.

So glad you have those great tomatoes. Nothing better than a good ripe one. DS

LOL! We have the china issue with MIL's estate. It is beautiful old China but no one wants it! It may have to be sold unless BIL takes (but he has no place to store it - rents a room).

Greetings Little Family

Well we don't have too many family secrets here since we talk about our poop! 136.5 today.

Yeah talk about secrets, I had a friend whose husband died suddenly. After his death she found evidence of an affair on his computer! A really hurtful time. Seems like every family has one thing or another in their past so its comforting that you are not the only one. When I was a practicing lawyer I used to hear some real horror stories! Lets all try to focus on the positive since we can't change any of that old stuff.

Chicken and asparagus last night. Today is a trip to costco which will mean shrimp and yogurt and other healthy stuff. Have to get a blood draw for platelets which means a trip to the big city of 28,000 people.

Paula I read the caring bridge post and am so glad for you that things are getting better and Ben is improving. But don't work too hard!

BB grow a good baby. Hope you are feeling well.

Met with our house sitter yesterday. I think she will be fine for our little 4 day trip.

We smelled a little smoke here yesterday. Not good but not unusual in the summer. Those of you with big time smoke take care.

Well time for more coffee before I can face the day and the costco lines plus needle stick. At least I didn't have to fast for this one.
