July 28. Friday
Good morning. The first thing I did this morning was read CaringBridge. It is wonderful that Ben did so well yesterday. I hope all the news continues to be as good and Ben has a smooth recovery. What a relief for you, Paula, and your family. And thank goodness you had had the fortitude to get a second opinion and push the insurance company!
Weight 117.25, calories 1532. We went to DS's restaurant and ate a fair amount of salty and carby stuff last night and I'm in the backup part of my bathroom cycle so part of that amount should dissipate in the next day or so.
So DS was home early after work - the restaurant is closing! The owner told him that they made more since DS was there than ever before but he just can't afford to keep the place open (it has a history of being open for 6 months then fizzling out). The owner has offered DS the same position at another of his restaurants at higher pay. But the food is a bit more pedestrian there (which is probably partly why that restaurant has stayed in business for a long time). DS is thinking about it but I'm assuming he will probably take it for now (it is also local).
Back to Boston again this morning for DH's clinical trial checkup. Have a great day!

No wt today and maybe for a few days. Watermelon in the house. I love it and mostly buy from a particular grower. But my wt shoots up and then back to baseline when I stop eating it. I know it is watermelon wt and just a number but it bugs me. If you ever get a chance for a Cave City, AR melon buy it.
At court all day yesterday. Drama: Niece and her husband had 2 kids taken away because of physical abuse. DW's sister and BIL took the kids in. Not because they wanted more kids but because NOBODY else was stepping up to keep them out of foster care. Child abuse charges were poorly dealt with. They almost killed the youngest one. Weeks in pediatric ICU. Now after years of adoption petition and hearing delays the biological parents are requesting custody. Custody was denied but so was the adoption. SIL and BIL remain as guardians. Almost 6 hours of travewl time.
I packed nuts and yogurt for the trip.
Paula great news! Speedy recovery for DH.
Devon, Great post! For me this VSG /WLS journey has been more about self discovery than weight loss. I'm glad I lost the weight. I don't think I would have ever been able to be kinder (more kind?) to myself had I not had surgery. So often I think things but am unable to but into words. You so generously put them down for me to read. While reading your posts I am saying to myself "Me too. Me too!"
More Later, David

Good morning. Weight up 1.6. Sheesh! What was it I wrote just yesterday about weight and eating being fluid??? LOL! The proof is in the "pudding"!
Don't know what got in me yesterday, but I was crap carb indulgent. Has not happened in a while. I should retrace the day and see if I notice a trigger situation.
Pups are doing well. I understand I am negligent of photo whoring, so I will get on that today. Little Indigo Blue (Blue's singleton pup) will visit the plastic surgeon today... She has done beautifully and gained 5 oz in 3 days. (One hopes for 1/2-1 oz per day the first several days. However, my pups seem to gain at least an ounce a day from the start!) The older pups have all now double their birth weight in only 8 days. Having Blue as Auntie Wet Nurse has helped tremendously!

Plastic surgeon for the pup?
