VSG Maintenance Group
Wednesday July 26
Good morning,
I was also thrilled to see that it is a go for Paula's DH's surgery. It is such an odd time where one is THRILLED to have a surgery. After my mastectomies, still in a bit of post surgical haze, I was joking around that I didn't mind the nurses looking at my chest because there were no longer boobs there and wasn't that the greatest thing ever? I was full of giddy joy. I could feel the nurses's lack of joy (Debbie Downers!) and one said to the other "she has had a lot of medication." The meds had nothing to do with it. The Wicked Witch was dead. Ding Dong!
So, Paula. DING DONG!
About maintenance...Ann, I plan on pulling that link later today. Thanks for that. Personally, I think maintenance eating has to be individualized. Do what works for you. And if it stops working, pivot.
Resilience. There is a puff piece (which is not a knock, I like puff pieces) in the NYT about how to boost resilience in oneself. One of the steps is "Rewrite Your Story." This got me thinking about the return of old eating behaviors over a long period of time. There is a part of me (it might be in my loose skin) that feels that those old behaviors are ME and there is no stopping their return to dominance. I don't like that Story and I don't really believe it has to be inevitable. But, how to rewrite the story in permanent ink?
Transformation (still thinking about Crater Lake) and Rewriting my Story in permanent ink may take some time. JFDI!
Have a joyful day! (I think this is likely easier if someone has 17 puppies in the house)

Working on the vanity in the shop bathroom. Paint drying now. No material for doors so it will be open for a while. But maybe I can get the sink in today. Then trim the rest of the bathroom on Friday. DW has been called to court in a family child custody matter tomorrow. The courthouse is 2 1/2 hours one way. Seems they over booked the local court room. Yuck all the way around.
Great news, Paula.
Shell, I had a cousin that went to CL to be a parks worker in her retirement. She got there with snow on the ground and decided it a lot like working and it wasn't for her. She said the blue was the blues****er she had ever seen.
Ann, I am good about list and priorities maker. But once I start dreading a task my mind builds it up into this super task that will need a whole crew to complete. JFDI. Most of the time I spent more time dreading it than it took to complete.
Liz, the beeping would drive me even crazier. Electricians and painters have 16' ladders. Wish I was closer. I climb high into trees to recover bee swarms. Usually in the dark so I can close up the door on the trap.
BB, I have 2 daughters that are pregnant now. They normally don't have high energy but they could barely get out of bed 1st trimester.
Devon, Hope you are enjoying being the puppy whisperer.
Carbon, I like car camping. Oh wait, I live in a camper trailer. LOL
Diane S, It is good that you know how to complete estate matters. My brother handles all of the financial for my Mom. I do all of the medical visits. She is still plenty able to make all of her decisions for now.
More later, David

Such interesting stuff to read today. Everyone has so much going all - mostly Paula to whom we all send our best. Yeah its funny to be happy about surgery but I was thrilled with having the vsg surgery. Woke up in recovery, saw my surgeon and said "who are you?" I also heard they taped up your boobs for that surgery so I took a ball point pen and wrote "hi" under one boob before I went in. Never heard anything about that.
Hate those beeping alarms. We had ants get into ours so the alarms went off at 1 am. Had to replace them. Don't get on a ladder yourself. GL Liz with doctor stuff.
Gallery duty again.
Hey a good thing to eat while traveling is a McDonald's grilled chicken sandwich. Use the bun like a potholder and then toss it. You can also get roast chicken without the bun at subway. I did that on my recent trip.
136 today. Travel weight abating.
Good to hear from you Dave. Glad your project is moving forward. Sounds like you were "born to build".
Gotta go. Need to be at gallery in 30 min and I am not ready. Diane S
Bun as potholder -- brilliant!

Sending messages to your surgeon is funny. I had a friend who had open heart surgery. I worked with his wife. She had ordered a custom made bumper sticker had it autoclaved so it would be sterile. Had the nurses lay it on his chest after they got hime scrubbed in. The sticker read "the quickest way to a man's heart is to reach through his chest and rip it out" The surgeon put it on his sports car.

206.2. These huge daily jumps on the scale are getting to me. I need to get back in the 100s. I had a prepackaged protein shake for breakfast this morning instead of a protein bar. I haven't had one in a long while. It was good and satisfying. I may tweak my weekday morning routine by switching over to shakes for a while to see if it makes any difference.
