No weight. Up before the birds this morning to get DS#2 off to a week long canoe trip with the scouts. DS#1 came home yesterday and will now stay until Tuesday evening since he needs to register for school on Tuesday and camp is 2 hours North of here, kind of silly for him to drive back for one day plus he said he needed a break from it all.

Church today and then maybe start packing with the hopes of going to Mayo for pre-op stuff Tuesday and Wednesday and surgery on Thursday. Dang health insurance!

Have a great last day of the weekend!

Not much exciting stuff to report. Although it's very hot here, the grass still hasn't stopped growing. What IS IT with that stuff?!

Weight is up, thanks to some summertime splurges earlier this week, e.g., ice cream.

All reservations (hotel and airline) have now been made for our trip to Vancouver in August. Shel, if you can come to The Big City while we're there (August 23-21), I'd be thrilled. We could go hiking, visit gardens and/or museums, drink wine, or eat salmon and morels. Or all of the above. Let me know if you think a trip across the border might work for you.

But for now I gotta stop eating ice cream and get some grass mowed!

Discipline!

P.S. Paula and Ben, I hope you get to go to Mayo!

Nice trip! I really loved Vancouver when we were there for a couple of days. It reminded me a lot of Seattle, which I also love: only to visit though, as the frequently rainy weather would seriously depress me.

Yes, Vancouver is so beautiful. And August is the sunniest month of the year. And typical August highs are in the 70s. Just what we're looking for. :)

We must have posted at the same time! I am moving mine here (and deleting the other one):

Good morning! Weight 114.5, calories 1005. I'm not sure what our plans are during the day today but we are going to see the Cowsills at the county fair next to our neighborhood this evening. The fair has been this week every year for a LONG time (used to be 2 weeks until a few years ago). People warned us when we bought our house in 2009 that we would have to contend with traffic from the fair every year. Other than once or twice in the past it has not been an issue as I think the attendance has been declining (which is why they cut the length from 14 days to 9 and then to 7). For some reason this year the traffic has been terrible! I don't know if the attendance is up (good weather, maybe advertising, maybe shows) or if we are just out at bad times, but it will be good when it is over after tonight.

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Greetings Mighty Maintainers

136.5 today. Runza weight is slowly abating.

Hey Ann, our grass out here kind of stops in the summer due to lack of rain. But it grows in the winter when yours goes dormant. Why not return your lawn to natural prairie? Thats what ours looks like thanks to DH lack of mowing.

Gallery duty again. I have a lot of days to make up but my buddies all covered for me.

Paula I sure hope the insurance works out. I remember being in the car driving to SF for my vsg and calling the hospital and they hadn't heard of me and then learning I had low potassium and had to take a lot extra. Insurance really bites.

Enjoy the fair and the Cowsils. I remember them. At the gallery the other day I played 60's folk music on Pandora. What a trip! Mamas and Papas and the ubiquitous Dylan. We have a cute little county fair here with cows and chickens and my favorite - corn dogs.

Carbon have a good one. Hope everyone has fun in Vancouver. Its cool and foggy here - nourishing the redwoods.

Peace all. Diane S

Diane, welcome home!

It's great that your property looks like "natural prairie." Sure wish ours would go in that direction.

Unfortunately, our property would not look anything like a prairie if we let it go to seed. Before we bought this place, it had been cultivated for 100 years and then neglected terribly the last 40 years. During that time, invasive species of all kinds moved in and took over the joint. Those introductions were big mistakes made by the federal and state conservation agencies, which have made some big boo-boos around here. Fifteen years ago we tore out buckbrush and wild rose and wild olive (which aren't native to this neck of the woods at all) and sowed native grasses. The upside / downside is that the new grasses grow beautifully. But they can't compete with the invasive plants that we continue to battle.

The upsides of all this mowing are that (1) the place really does look beautiful and (2) my Fitbit thinks I clocked 13,800 steps this morning and ran for 60 minutes.

Hmmm, too bad about invasive plants. We have those too - there is a nasty plant list. Himalayan blackberries take over. Good to eat but it's a briar patch.

i have often wanted to put Fitbit on the dog for a walk and see what happens. Ha ha tractor.
