VSG Maintenance Group
Sunday July 16
Hi all,
Weight is fine. It's actually staying down. My eating has not been super healthy, but it's minimal so I guess that is helping keep the weight down.
Puppy stress going on. It's a lot for Ron to handle, so I stepped in to help out ("take over" is probably more apt). I made a tough decision last night to let one of the little Frenchies go. We really tried to keep him going for a good 36 hours and he seemed to be getting stronger and stronger, but after his 7:30 pm feeding he tanked. I think what happened is he aspirated and got a bunch of formula in his lungs and that was that. He finally went about noon today. Sad, but I know I did the right thing by withholding lifesaving care. I kept him comfortable and he wasn't in pain or crying. The 5 remaining babes are fat and happy and feeding well.
Ella is getting ready, too. She is due the 19th or 20th officially. I'm expecting pups as early as tomorrow, but probably Tuesday or Wednesday. And it does look like she has a dozen (maybe a baker's dozen) baking in there.
Lots going on in everyone's lives and happily it seems that most of it is positive. Diane S, hope the services go well and that while it will be sad, I hope there is no family strife and you have a chance to peacefully reflect on your mom and your life together.
Enjoy what's left of your Sunday!
Sorry you lost the puppy but it sounds like he didn't have enough strength in him. I don't know how you are going to do it once all the puppies have arrived!

Oh no, it never even occurred to me that a puppy would die. I was only thinking of the snuggles and puppy love. I am so sorry!
