VSG Maintenance Group
Sunday July 16
Weight 116, calories 930 even though a couple of mini carrot cakes crossed my lips (why do guests leave things like this?). But I nipped it in the bud so to speak and didn't eat the other 4. I need to make sure someone else eats them quickly or trash them. I finally made the pork and pepper kabobs that BB's post had me craving. They were great (and much healthier than carrot cake)!
I went to the dealership to get all my stuff from the car. Funny, but it still looks like a brand new car (just doesn't run)! They helped me figure out the range for what my car was worth and also priced out the new version of the same car. Hopefully tomorrow I'll find out how much the insurance company will be giving me then have to decide if I buy new or used. I'm inclined toward new again...
Hoping the weather will be nice today as yesterday was grey and muggy until about 5. If it is clear, we will go to the beach.
Have a wonderful Sunday!

Liz, please post a pic of your new car. I'd love a new one, but won't replace my reliable and necessary SUV until we move to town. I joke, only slightly, that I hope my next car will be one that can drive me around. Seriously, that'd be wonderful when I'm 80+.
Weight is doing great, even though my eating is up, thanks to being so much more active in summertime. It's interesting to watch my appetite respond to activity levels, as well as the several days' delay in weight changes in response to eating and activity levels.
Only now, three years post-op, am I finally liking salads again. It's the lettuce I had no interest in, but now I'm loving it. Had a great salad yesterday -- a great way to pack in the veggies.
Hubby's appetite is back! Also on the upswing are his sense of balance and his energy level. So happy to see him feeling better and so sorry he had to endure those months of misery.
Today is a gardening day. Tomorrow I get to see my therapist for the first time in four months. Really ready to download and process some stuff.
Happy Sunday to you all.
P.S. Diane, I'm hoping your mother's services are finally planned and going/went well. My mom and my hubby's dad died within eight days of each other just before Thanksgiving of 2015, and I remember how exhausting in every way the planning and execution of the funeral gatherings were. I know it will be a relief when it's all over and you're back home. Sending you wishes for safe, easy travels.

Love the stories of wild birds on the porch, healthier husbands, new cars... in general, forward progress in a positive direction. Life is a continuous series of challenges, intended to be opportunities.
Arrived at my "for sale home" yesterday and mowed the front and back, put chemicals in the pool (then couldn't swim ... didn't think that through..) and harvested a bit from the raised vegetable gardens. The summer I'm away, they flourish with the rain. I did some packing and I'm headed out for my final Reiki Master Teacher class... then three hour drive back to my new home.

Diane, congrats on your approaching Master Reiki graduation. It'd be so nice to have someone with your skills living nearby.
BTW, the porch nest is now four eggs full. And the mama is the fattest little wren you ever saw. So sweet to watch all this.

Greetings all
a bit of down time. Dh has made the memorial program on his iPad and we will get it printed at kinkos.
this is for the smaller service at the retirement home as residents cant get around. Bigger service at. The mortuary later in the day. Helps to be married to a nerd. Younger brother is here and I am delegating to him.
love reading your posts. Makes me feel grounded.

Supah Sunday to all of you!
Liz, hope you find a car that makes you feel as good as the one you have to leave behind. I thought of you when I heard about a slime eel accident in Oregon. (The only thing similar was that the driver was no way at fault....the accident happened TO him, out of the blue.) A friend of a friend on facebook was literally in the thick of it. The slime eels were live. Their slime production increases when stressed. Flying out of their transport truck onto the highway and nearby cars stressed them out. Slime ensued!!! Anyhoo, the friend of the friend is hoping his car is totaled. Hard to imagine getting THAT entirely cleaned out of a car.
Yesterday's hike was moderate but terrific hike with a few hundred of my Seattle neighbors. Beautiful weather and happy hikers except for middle school kids being forced to hike with wholly unacceptable, uncool, hippy parents. Love their sourpuss faces :) Classic.
Lots of DH news on the board! Best wishes to all! DianeS, thinking of you as you navigate these hectic days. I hope you find some joy, too, as family and friends gather.
Paddle board yoga today. Ann, I have to go back and see if you mentioned how park yoga went. Last year I did Sunday yoga in a park tho it was on a deck so I didn't have to worry about my precious mat getting overly dirty. I find being out in nature surprisingly enhances the experience.
Picture on Snow Lake below (I thought I posted this yesterday but I'm not seeing it.....) In particular, I wanted to do this hike because my bed-bound FIL keeps talking about it as a great memory from 50 years ago. It was nice to see him flip thru my pics, reminiscing about better days. Hug your skinny, tight today, my friends! Shel
PS, addition transfer in full force at the Nordstroms anniversary sale yesterday. Shoes, shoes, shoes. Even my daughter benefited.

I had to look up the slime eel accident - now that's REALLY crazy (and gross)!

Aaahhh! The Nordstrom mid-summer sale -- I remember living in civilization once and loving that event. ;)
More gorgeous hiking photos! How marvelous that your FIL and we can enjoy those places and memories, thanks to your pix and calories expended.
And sad to say, the yoga in the park session was not that pleasant, thanks to very bumpy, wet grass, which made balance harder. But mostly, the instructor, a young woman, didn't have any apparent appreciation for the need to vary poses in ways that work all the body parts, e.g., the first 30 minutes were ALL devoted to forward folding poses. As a result, my lower back was hurting, and I was irritated -- not what I have ever experienced in a yoga class. So I did something that was very unyoginilike but very self caring -- I rolled up my mat and stole away mid-class. Hey! I'm older, and I have more insurance. #FriedGreenTomatoesReference
