Good morning, all!

Best comment yesterday was BB's news but followed by DianeOs "We are going to be grandparents!" BB, I was thinking about your "early" announcement and really this is the perfect place for it. A caring place for sure, but a safe place for sensitive news.

I'm wondering if the Frenchie had her puppies. Now whenever Devon is briefly absent, I am going to wonder if there are puppies.

I think I am hiking today. A couple of obstacles in my way, some of it mental. If I go, it will be Granite Mountain which sounds positively Tolkien. From descriptions, it looks like the hardest hike, yet, which makes it appealing but also the source of dread.

From the hiking website: for every mile of a hike, eat 120 kcal for each mile and 50 cal for each 1000 feet gained. I don't know that I will USE that info but it is fun to look at.

Ann! History of lifting!!!! That explains past comments about trying out Devon's moves. My mind's eye of you clearing land has shifted. Superwoman in farmer's clothes. Also, glad that DH's digoxin is finally gone.

Best phrase from today --- "self building" Love that, Dave! So glad to see your posts!!

Go build yourself,

Shel

No puppies yet! Thank goodness! Frenchie is due on Friday. Her C section is scheduled for tomorrow. I really want her to have these pups naturally, though. It's simply more natural and since Frenchies don't have the best maternal instincts after a c section and the pups don't benefit from the stimulation of being "pushed" down the the birth canal, they also don't take hold like a naturally vigorous breed.

Good morning! Very busy day yesterday and by the time I logged on I saw no point in adding to the discussion except to say congrats to BB on the wee BB she's got growing inside and to offer my condolences to Diane S.

Weight back down again, but my eating was not stellar. After my lengthy reply to Ann the other day, I went a bit over the top yesterday and ate rather high carb. To put it bluntly, I abused high sugar carbs! I ate two bakery cookies, plus a half late at night. Granted in the grand scheme of things, this is nothing compared to the old days, but I am not comfortable with that behavior.

One of the huge benefits of coming here every day is this personal acknowledgement of eating behavior. Had I not just written about the cookies I would not have thought about the steps that led up to the purchase of the cookies and the underlying stress of possible puppy arrival undermining going to the theater to see The Book of Mormon. I bought our tickets back in February as Ron's Valentine's Day gift. That coupled with my current frustration with Ron's lack of activity around the domicile (isn't that a nice way of saying he's being a lazy ass that is on his iPad or in front of the TV all freaking day and gets nothing constructive done? LOL! Come on, Dev, tell us how you really feel!)... oops went off a bit there.... anyhow, all this adds up and the auto pilot takes over and the want for soothing, soft, comforting, creamy, buttery, and sugary things kicks on. I know that once I understand the underlying cause of the craving I can generally move on and let it go.

Have to get my ducks in a row for today - UPS store for a Zappo's return, hair cut, find a restaurant near the theatre for dinner tonight, get dog food ready for dog sitter to feed (yes with preggo Frenchie due any moment, I thought it best to have Auntie Kathryn come and sit with the dogs just in case), and the list goes on and on...

It is a beautifully pleasant day today. Blue, blue sky and just enough breeze to make the leaves on the walnut trees move every so delicately. It's only 73 degrees in the shade right now. Probably won't even hit 90 today! Even the air smell refreshing for a change! LOVE IT!

I assume that after the puppies arrive Ron will have lots to get him busy?

Greetings Fun People

Thanks for all your condolences. I am busy trying to plan the services long distance and I feel like an air traffic controller! Younger brother now wants a second service (long story) and I told him he has to plan it, not me. I have to get the dogs arranged , obit written, program done and on and on. Flying out tomorrow which is three planes and takes all day. I will be glad when this is over.

Glad you all are having some fun. Street fairs and family things - all good. Ann, can you really lift 105 lbs? Yikes, such power. I can barely carry a 25 lb bag of clay.

Have fun with puppies and friends all. Diane S

When MIL died some of us wanted a "celebration of life" service a bit later. But BIL who took care of her had to have all the ceremony (4 hour wake, funeral the next day with lunch after, burial with graveside service on day 3), so they did. I think MIL would have been happy about family togetherness but not so much all of this.

Well, here I sit waiting for DH to return from taking the one dog to her vacation spot and waiting for the next phone call. Guess we will do the two services - one will be at the funeral home and they will do everything. Fortunately we can afford it.

Thanks Liz for the memorial thoughts. Helps to know it could be worse. Yikes I have nothing suitable to wear for funerals and it will be a zillion degrees in the midwest.

I am up to 137 and just want to eat and eat. This sucks.

Glad the dioxin is gone and Shel has a mega hike in the works. The pstyle will get a work out! DianeS
