VSG Maintenance Group
Wednesday July 12
Weight 116, calories 1500. Regular ice cream was my downfall yesterday. But I thoroughly enjoyed it. I need to get some lower calorie frozen something back in the house.
My SIL and I are going to the annual "Street Fair" here in town today, then I am WFH in the afternoon. It is essentially a large outside craft fair/sidewalk sale downtown. The entire Main Street is blocked off and there are 4 rows of booths. We meet friends for lunch at one of the downtown restaurants @ 11:30 so we beat the crowds. It is a lot of fun and there are great buys on many items. I have had years when I take care of several wedding gifts. One of my favorites is sea-themed pottery by a talented local artist.
Have a great Wednesday!

Some good things to report: Hubby's doc has taken him off all digoxin. We anticipate he's going to feel much better soon. This is thanks to our PCP's concerns, but mostly to the super nurse who runs hubby's cardio rehab unit. Yesterday, after calling us to see how hubby was feeling, she marched straight into hubby's cardio doc's office and jacked him up, saying, "This med is messing him up! Cut it out!" Or words to that effect. ;) And he did. Talk about a medical advocate! God bless all the great nurses in the world.
And a small intuitive eating win to report: Yesterday I did not work outside like a field hand -- just went to yoga class. And my body responded with lower hunger. Gee, just, sorta, semi like a sensible body.
Also, yesterday for giggles, after all Devon's and Shel's talk about deadlifting, I wandered over to the local gym to see how much I could deadlift these days. It was only 105 pounds, nothing like I used to be able to lift in my early 30s (yes, I used to be a powerlifter -- first hubby was a professional bodybuilder -- long, long story). But it felt good to swoop into that old position that still echos in my body. Odd sensations. This morning my whole back feels it, but in a good way like I have a thin film of new muscle tissue painted on me. I'd forgotten what it's like to feel muscles growing that fast. Not sure I want to turn back into a gym rat again at 71, but fun to know it's still an option. ;)
Happy Hump Day to all -- especially to BB and her new baby venture.

Yes "Yeah" to good nurses! I'm glad DH is off the digoxin. Though it can be helpful when the body can handle it, it really is a poison when it can't.

Glad hubby is off the med!
Okay, 105 pounds out of the gate is phenomenal, IMO! Damn, your field work sure does make you strong! LOL!
My trainer wanted to add weight yesterday, but decided not to opting for more reps instead. I made him a deal that since I was able to add 4 reps to each set at the 135 weight we could try going to 155 on Friday (which will meet my next lifting goal!). He agreed. I must admit that by the 10th rep on the second set yesterday I was getting tired. I made it to 12, though!
Thanks, Devon. Your weights are going up steadily. Good on ya!
I just have a strong back and (so far) no back issues. The deadlift has always been my strongest lift. My bench press sucks because I have long arms, and as you know that means I have to do double work to press what short-armed folks can do. Squats I used to do very well at, but that was before I wrecked my knees ... doing squats, of course. ;)
But I suck at all Olympic-style lifts, e.g., clean and jerk.
I'll let you know if I go back to the iron. If I do, I'll get a coach and clean up my forms. One thing I noticed yesterday is that at first my body wanted to adopt a yogaesque flat-back posture. Nope. Wrong form for deadlifts. ;)

We occasionally get ice cream when we travel. We will travel tomorrow. My mom has a doctor appt. and my daughter should find out if it is a boy or girl and wanted DW to be there. My youngest daughter is pregnant too. Right behind her sister a couple of weeks.
Ann, Glad the meds can be stopped and symptoms decreased. The only power lifting I have done is with sheets of plywood. I don't know how much it weighs.
Diane O, hope your house sells quickly. We are sort of renting to our daughter. I am ready to list it.
More self building today. Dog sitting this weekend.
More later, David

Very jealous of all the grandchildren. None in sight here!

Weight: 156 (feeling less puffy yay!) No exercise, Great night's sleep
Yesterday's Eats
B: 1 scrambled egg, 1 turkey sausage link, 1/2 blueberry english muffin, coffee
S: granola bar
L: 1/2 hamburger (split with sister) 2 onion rings
S1: cheese-its
S2: coconut mil****d decaf coffee and I totally gave in to a drive-in craving for a ham and cheese croissant (but I did stop at half!)
D: Was not very hungry bc of my late sbux snack.
Less than an whole skewer of pork and pepper kebab, side of grilled squash with cilantro chive olive oil
dessert: Mini drumstick
Writing this down sounds like a lot of food. And I did oversnack yesterday, admittedly. I had no need for the Sbux stop. But over all not too bad. Meal portions are staying small. Halfsies is my hashtag. Like 1/2 english muffin. Or half hamburger. Or not even an entire dinner portion
Okay I added up all my calories from yesterday and I was at about 1900. I guess considering all the snacking, not too terrible. I should probably be eating closer to 1700-1800 to maintain and everything that I've read says you don't need extra calories/weight in the first trimester, or very little. But I also can't say I won't end up with morning sickness. So I'm going to be okay with yesterday's 1900.
I think you are going to do great!
