Thanks guys! Still seems so surreal to say "me, pregnant." But blood tests confirm :) But only 5.5 weeks so veeeery early.

I admit with respect to eating I feel a bit like I'm in the middle of a lake with no oars. I doubt my stomach/satiety/cravings will tell me the right thing to do. But I also don't know if I can, much less is it wise, to arbitrarily stick to a number--and no doubt that number scares me.

I don't know why I'm so afraid. I did decently ok maintaining with no "true" diet for the better part of 5 years. I can wing it, right?

It's just so freaking scary to think I should be gaining weight. Not a ton of weight. But some weight. Yikes.

Such big news! I know you will figure all this out. Listen to the mamas in this group (I'm not one!) who know what is coming down the pike. You're about to start a long, loving adventure. :)

I really like the idea of working with an nutritionist specializing on glowing pregnant ladies...if they also had experience with post bariatric women....bonus !!!

It seems that the pregnancy thing is going around. Both of my daughters are pregnant. Enjoy the process. Try not to panic with the eating. My wife actually lost weight with our 2 boys but had morning sickness up to delivery day. Congratulations! David

141.8.

Was up before the birds to take DH in for an EGD with biopsies. As much as I would like to spare DH from a major surgery which will impact his quality of life and includes a tough recovery, I know I would feel more reassured of long-term survival if they did the esophagectomy. The gastro doc did say that there was still a suspicious area and many biopsies of that and the area where known tumor had been were taken. We should get results back by Thursday, just in time for our consult at Mayo! Hoping for just enough cancer left for them to do the surgery but easy to get it all with clean margins! Odd to hope for cancer to be present!

Just because kid stress has lessened considerably, my heart rhythm is starting to act up to bring our stress level back to chaos. I missed my (new) exit when driving to work yesterday (due to construction) and as I realized it I felt that racing heart rate and then felt like I might pass out (pretty scary when you are driving). It didn't last too long and I was able to get to work fine. I had kind of remembered that the heart rhythm specialists from Milwaukee that I see were at my hospital on Mondays, so I called up to the cardiology department and sure enough, they were there. They were able to download the data from my defibrillator and see that I did indeed have a run of ventricular tachycardia (pretty bad heart rhythm if sustained) and that I had had a similar run on Saturday as well. I also have a heart wire from my defibrillator that is showing interference like it might have a little fracture in it and possibly need to be replaced. I will see the heart rhythm specialist tomorrow to see what the game plan is. Really hoping if I need surgery that it can be delayed until after Ben has his (if he is has it) and is at least somewhat recovered. God sure must think I am as strong as a Ox, because things just keep coming!

Sometimes we have to wonder if it would be better if God didn't think we were so strong.

Yikes! Paula, so glad you didn't suffer more than that! Self-care time.

And I'm hoping for the very best outcomes from Ben's tests and surgery. Y'all deserve some big breaks.

Hugs!

Double yikes! So glad the specialists were in today!

Everything with cancer care is topsy turvy -- it is hard to know what to hope for sometimes.

What a big week for you and DH. Healing wishes for the both of you!

Paula so sorry for your ups and downs. Take care of that heart. You may indeed be as strong as an ox but that does not mean you have to work like one or be treated like one. You can help your DH by helping yourself. Peace.

Sometimes I think God has miss judged my strength or has a weird sense of humor. I used to pray for a thankful heart. My house burned and I was very thankful that no one was hurt but we had just moved. No rental insurance. Everything was paid for. Not funny.
