Thursday July 6
Weight 115.75, calories 800 (no time to eat on office days).
Paula, I'm glad you have a second opinion coming up but then what do you do if they differ? This is where medicine stops feeling like pure science isn't it? I Hope that you have a great getaway in the meantime. You both need it.
So wonderful that Ann got a good report!
Ocean, enjoy wine country (beautiful place to live).
As to whether Blue can feel the puppy dancing, as I recall (45 years ago), for humans at first there is a flutter which I began to feel about halfway through the pregnancy. It gradually increased so by mid third trimester it was quite obvious when the child was kicking or turning around.
Today is a short workday for me, then I'm off tomorrow. Have a wonderful Thursday!

Liz, as much as I would like it to be sometimes, I definitely understand that medicine is not an exact science. Helps somewhat to work in the field. Nice job on losing the little vacation weight you gained.
Ann, I am thrilled that both you and DH got "clean" reports! I showed your pic on FB to DS#2 and asked him to guess your age. He said late 50's! Honestly girl, you look fabulous and your sense of style and wit make you seem even younger!
Speaking of wit, Shel - your daily posts bring a smile to my face and your endless energy is admired!
Ocean, so exciting seeing this new chapter in your life unfold. Happy you are enjoying retirement and have someone to share it with!
Devon, like Liz I was able to feel movement about 1/2 through pregnancy. I imagine for a large litter like Blue, it would be earlier. I just saw this product advertised on T.V. (even though it is several years old). It allows men to feel the baby's movement in the womb in real time! http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/lifestyle/2013/06/huggies-create s-belt-for-dad-to-feel-the-babys-kick/
Love to you all, even if there wasn't a personal shout out today!
Off to pack for the long weekend away.
Paula, thank you for your congrats and sweet compliments. And please give Ben a big hug from me.
I wish for both Ben and my hubby that this cancer cup had passed them by. There's not much we can do in these cir****tances but try to be present for every moment -- especially the victories and the joy.
And right now, hubby and I are still doing the happy dance. :)

Good morning, all!
Feeling the preganancy.....in the beginning it wasn't clear if I was feeling baby or the beginnings of GERD. Then, butterfly flutttering. But that was just one baby. What do 11 (plus?) butterflies feel like?
Paula, glad you are getting a second opinion. First, they are Mayo with an institutional expectation that they apply both evidence based and personalized care. Second....if they match what the first surgeon said, you can feel more confident in the unexpected recommendation with no regrets. Peace of mind is worth a lot.
Paula says I am energetic. I demand engery! Yesteday's hike was 11 miles with a gain of 3584. Too much beauty to capture in a lens. I will eventually post a pic of meadow filled with wild flowers. Mt Rainier was out the entire hike. Panoramic views at the top with the local cascades and distant peaks (one near Canadian border) visible. I am going to have to get an app that can tell you what mountains you are looking at. Peak Finder or some such thing. A lady on the trail was using it for the first time yesterday and was happy to share its findings.
Hi Ho, Hi Ho......make it a skinny day.
Shel

209. I have been eating reasonably well and tracking so I expected to see a weight drop, but this is the highest I have weighed in the morning. Sad, but will keep swimmin.
Last night, my grandson and I watched videos of Chris Pratt's "What's My Snack?". So funny and oddly motivational because he got himself into incredible shape for Guardians of the Galaxy, kicking and screaming along the way.
My daughter has been in the hospital since 4th of July due to gastroparesis. A nurse practitioner told us about the stomach pacemaker which would essentially cure it. She already has a new gastro who does them to see if she would benefit from it. He already changed her medications, so YAY! We are planning to rebuild her -- new kidney with a new pancreas = no more dialysis or type 1 diabetes, which left the big problem of gastroparesis which may be solved. Fingers crossed.
Wow, Joey! What a great outcome for your daughter and all of you that kind of rebuilding and success would mean! Fingers crossed for you all. And more hugs.

It would not be worth the anti-rejection drugs, but since she will already be taking them for the kidney, it's a go.
I hope this can all be worked out for your daughter!
