VSG Maintenance Group
Monday June 26
Weight 117.5 (down 1/2?). We are going out for our last "special" dinner tonight. if there are leftovers we can eat them tomorrow before we depart Wednesday morning. A few years ago we had the same flight - we had to be at the airport before noon, departing mid-afternoon. I made sandwiches to eat for lunch at the airport. I FORGOT that unpackaged food was not allowed by US customs (in Aruba you pass through US customs here so the flight home is a US domestic flight). My sandwiches were caught on the security scanner and I got sent to the room in the back for "further investigation" (the guy at the scanner acted like I was a terrorist). The person I had to see was laughing and asked what was in the sandwiches. He said we could keep the tuna, but had to dump the ham. As a result, I don't bring lunch to the airport anymore (other than via protein bars)!
Have a great beginning to the work week!

That is a funny story about the sandwiches Liz. I wonder why tuna would be acceptable but not ham? Odd!
142.6 today. Been hanging around here for while. Worked all weekend - long hours. I peeked in on you all but didn't comment. Love the kissing picture of Liz and DH and as always loved Shel's hiking pics. Oh how I wish I had those trails to hike! They would of course kill me, but I would have fun trying!
Work again today (4 days in a row which is a rarity for this part-timer). I might get out a little early though as I think my afternoon appointment cancelled.
DH will have a PET scan on Wednesday. We are hoping the local folks can go over the results with us as the surgeon is on vacation this week. Of course they won't be able to tell us if surgery is a go or no go but at least we will have an inkling if there might still be cancer cells in the lymph nodes which is what the whole hang up is anyway.
DS#1 has been gone for a little over 2 weeks. As much as I couldn't wait for him to be gone, now I miss him! GO figure! DS#3 is gone this week also, attending a scout camp. Only leaves DS#2 at home and he sleeps most of the day and works many of the evenings, so we don't see much of him.
More later,
David (ummmm, I mean Paula!)
I think there are specific laws about bringing meat and fruits/vegetables into the US from other countries so fish might be excluded from the rules? Who knows!

Greetings Friends
Well another Monday and 135. I will take it.
Love the sandwich story. When we came back from Italy a few years ago, the customs area in San Francisco had these little beagles that went around sniffing luggage. It would sit and indicate when someone had an illegal food item like sausage or salami. They would confiscate the item and the dog and handler would leave for a bit, presumably for the dog to be rewarded. I watched it bust a couple of people. So cute. Yes it was meat and cheese and such. They didn't care about candy or the balsamic vinegar I had.
Spent yesterday vacuuming out the car and trying to get junk out of the way plus laundry. Not very exciting.
Paula good to hear from you. Yes, I bet you miss your boys but enjoy some quiet time. Hope the scan gives some answers.
Well I have to get going to Silver Sneakers. Breathe and move. Diane S
My beagle could definitely handle that job even at almost 14! LOL!

Well, I am back and wiped out! I woke up feeling tired and body weary. Hate that! I had every intention of leaving somewhat early from the show, but ended up staying to watch the group to be supportive of some friends. Not a good call for me, but it was the right thing to do. I had to pull off the interstate around 11:00 pm and sleep for a while. I slept for about an hour and then continued home. Got home at 1:30 am or so and collapsed into bed close to 2:00 am. Was up with the dogs at 7:00 and then went back to bed and slept until just about 10:00! WOW!
Ace came in just under the gun yesterday. Booooo! He got best opposite in sweeps and then reserve winner's dog at the specialty show. Not what I had hoped for, but "first runner up" should not be scoffed. (Though, we do enjoy referring to reserve winners as First Loser! LOL)
Weight was up 2 pounds this morning - completely understandable after yesterday's long drive, the excessive heat in So Cal yesterday, and the "tired eating" on the drive home yesterday.
Well, must get my act together before the entire day is a slug fest! Will catch up on what went on over the weekend here later today.
Wt 218 weight has been bouncing around. One of the things I enjoy everyday are fiber gummies. I have not been eating them because of the liquid diet for a week. Weight is up because bathroom activity is decreased. I feel like weight should be down overall because my nut intake is decreased. Still doing soft foods for another couple of days.
I have been helping my son remodel their pharmacy. We framed up a 30' x 16' room to make the work flow better. A couple of the days went by without any problems. I got lost in the work. Forgot about tooth pain, back pain, mood and anxiety. Made me feel 35 again. Wish every day could be like those. Finished up my part for now. Waiting on other subcontractors to finish before we trim it out.
I have been enjoying the dog news, daily living, hiking to new highs and traveling the world with our group.
Seek Peace, Do Good. David

Hopefully your diet will progress soon. DH had an implant done a couple of years ago, but I don't remember how long it was until he could eat normally.

I'm here, albeit late. Hubby and I traveled 220 miles today round-trip to have eye examinations. I'm cataract surgery worthy now, so this was a consult . And hubby had a glaucoma checkup. We both had our eyes dilated and managed to get home alive. SO glad to be in our lovely cave.
Will chime in again tomorrow morning.
Sweet dreams, all!

I bet you were glad - being out after eye dilation is not fun. We recently found out (as by-product of clinical study exams) that DH is at risk for glaucoma, so we need to have him checked regularly too. I think the last guy he saw was an optometrist, so we need to find a good local ophthalmologist.
