VSG Maintenance Group
Friday June 23
Weight 118. We were out late (11) last night because DS and his BF are leaving today (SIL tomorrow). It is going to be very quiet here without them. It has been wonderful getting to know BF, as DS is pretty serious about their relationship. They celebrated their last night by going on a sunset cruise. We are going to a great restaurant on the beach tonight with SIL for her last night.
Have a wonderful and skinny Friday!

Fab Friday to you all!
Liz, I can't get over how beautiful Aruba and its people are! Look at you! Wowza!
Tink has cervical disc disease per xray and perhaps an infection per lab work. DH is the one that talked to the vet so I know little else. She is now on a 10 day course of steroid and antibiotic.
Dave, so now we know that the secret to getting off nuts is to go thru the dental implant process. Good to know.
I have often thought those short term protein challenges might have a place for carb fever or if I was going thru a tough patch and needed simple food boundaries so I could de-emphasize food in general. Not that different than a cleanse that some folks do for all sorts of reasons. We all have our personalized tools....I love hearing what works (or doesn't work) for others.
We have warmth and sun headed our way. Devon, hope you will get some relief from the really hot temps.
Hug your skinny tight....Shel

Yowzah, Liz! That's some nice mocha-looking cheesecake there in your photograph.
Weather here is quite different. Storms arrived yesterday from the south and last night and this morning from the north. We lost electricity this morning for about an hour. Fortunately, it's back up now.
Yesterday morning outside yoga class I tripped over a concrete parking bumper and landed hard on my knee, which really owie'ed. I was walking in a new place and wasn'****ching where I was going. So glad I didn't hurt myself worse. Have iced / heated it, so it's better today, but I'm still very stiff and sore. An elastic brace makes me feel more stable. I hope this morning's aquarobics class will loosen it up a bit. I definitely plan to take it easy though.
Had a little insomnia last night (see owie'ed knee above) and wound up watching some youtube videos of VSG folks from 3-6 years post-op who've been dealing with regain. They are younger folks (than most of us) and became video-blogging stars on the WLSFA circuit a few years ago and good friends who visibly enjoyed their slimmer selves by partying after they lost their weight. Now, many/most of them are struggling / dealing with regain (from what sounds like 20-60 pounds, depending on the person). Most were silent online during the regain period, but they've started to vid-blog again about a number of things, including the shame they felt / feel about the regain. Much introspection going on. In any event, it was interesting. I so appreciate people who are willing to be thoughtful about what's going on with them -- whether I agree with their analysis or approach. It's just useful to hear what folks are thinking and doing.
As always on a Friday, T.G.I.F. For me, today, the plan is: Do one thing at a time!
And BREATHE.

I need to just say "today is a new day"
DH left for a boy's trip to Vegas and so I'm going to spend the weekend with my sisters, nieces, mom, and bil (the ONLY male, lol) at the lake. I spent last night cooking up a storm. I sure do love cooking for people. It's definitely how I show love, and something I associate with love. Maybe I've neglected this aspect too much? And is it a bad thing? I don't think so! My grandmother was this way--it was her way of taking care of her family. When my grandfather died and she stopped cooking (partially due to aging memory) I felt a little like "who is she, I don't know her anymore!" I can't eat much anymore, especially sweets. And there's never more than 3 of us living in the house so cakes and pies just don't make sense very often. My DH also isn't a sweets man. I realized just how much this fueled my soul as I was cooking last night!
I have to admit that you made my head-hunger kick in! LOL!
