June! singing "June is busting out all over" today. Please tell me I'm not the only one who knows this reference?! I love the rest of the year--summer, football season/fall/Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas.

152.8. Holy crap whaaaaat?! Scale hasn't malfunctioned--DH's weight was the same. This is my lowest weight since at least my wedding!! Just 5 days after returning from Mexico and I'm DOWN 2lbs.? I'm down nearly 15lbs. since my high weigh in after NYE??!! I fully expect a rebound, but it's definitely encouraging!

Calories? Idk. I had half a bagel, a scrambled egg, and a chicken sausage for breakfast, The pulled pork off a pulled pork sandwich (4oz?) and two small bites of potato salad for lunch, a mini butterfinger, 3 oz. peppered tri-tip, 1/2 c. macaroni and cheese, 1/4 c. peas, 2 glasses of wine, and then unfortunately a Cheetos snack bag at nigh****ching tv. So not GREAT choices but fairly moderate portions. I needed some wine last night. But the downside is that means I have to drink it several more nights before it goes bad :( I tried boxed wine to avoid that but yeah, no.

Exercise: finally getting back to a regular gym routine. Hard to keep up when you're traveling all month. Did about an hour. REally hit a wall but I guess that was good. I worked my chest so much that I couldn't do flys at all. Unfortunately several static machines at my gym jump from 15lbs. all the way up to 30. 30 wouldn't budge. Ok, I'll try 15. 15 wouldn't budge. 10???! I was able to barely make it move with maximal effort. Finally hubby was pretty much like "you're embarrassing yourself, I think you've burned out chest." lol. I do think I strained my elbows on triceps somehow.

Diane how was your trainer? So excited for you!

Congrats on the weight drop. Maybe your body just needed to see some change up in routine?

Haha it's a song from "Carousel", a Rodgers and Hammerstein musical. You're just too young!! (I identify with being born in the 50s, watch primarily TCM for movies, have a huge record collection, and don't understand "my" generation)

Haha! I identify with the late 30's and the 40's! I grew up enthralled by MGM musicals, B'way musical recordings, etc... I heard Gordon McRae in my head the moment I read the lyric!

Wow Liz, lots on your plate right now. I bet you can't wait for that 7 month mark to be here.

Back in the 140's decade, Boo. Day "off" today but will be busy with laundry, house cleaning and getting hair cut. Never ending!!!!

I did have a relaxing weekend so I guess it is time to get back at it anyway!

Back from my long weekend in the Finger Lakes. Worked four grueling hours yesterday, conducting a difficult hearing and simultaneously training my two replacements on separate portions of "our responsibilities". I came home mentally overspent. It is getting easier and easier to walk away.

I've tried to catch up with posts. Joey and Linda, I missed hearing from you. Kairk...positive energy as you wind your school year down. Your positive outlook about Bramble's exciting life and exploring your "new regimen" will make all of the difference. Liz, I'll be thinking of you as you deal with the last day of honoring MIL. Facebook vindication is sweet ! Shel... your hikes look and sound glorious ! I wish I could join you. Couldn't help but see the parallels between the balance required to navigate a challenging trail, and the balance required to "behave skinny ". Paula..enjoy some time on that fabulous patio, enjoying your son's success. Ann... keep up with the pool and sleep. I may give Shetland a try ! Diane... can't wait to hear about your experience with the trainer ! Carbon... your steady persistence inspires me! Bonnie... you now revel in activity and are making peace with sustainable changes in your lifestyle ! Enjoy working on your planters.

I have been thinking about you a bit.....you know if the terms of weight targets/strength/ostrich vs mindful, etc etc etc.

I have been told by a few fitness people that if I want to gain strength, I am going to have to tolerate weight gain. I don't think there is an evidence based science to all of this so I don't really want to even try to delve into internet research because what's the point if there isn't exact science?

They say (based on my dexa's) that it will be difficult to gain muscle because I am lean enough that the body begins to protect fat. So, even as I try to do the work of gaining strength it won't be as effective unless I have more fat.

So.....these extra hikes I think is driving a bit of eating response which makes me nervous. And, I think I should probably stick with 125-130 if I want to try to increase strength (the dexas were done at 120-125.) But, that makes me nervous, too. Am I tolerating a higher weight to gain strength or am I being an ostrich?

balance is not an easy thing.

eta that being nervous makes me want to chew, too.
