Greetings Relaxed Ones
Well I remember in my employed days how special a three day weekend was. Hope everyone is able to relax.
Plant those hydrangeas Liz. If I recall, they bloom after not too long. Mine are older but I see buds.
Lord Ann, grapefruit sized hail! That will take out a car windshield. I remember in the midwest when it suddenly started to hail and my brother who was little thought other kids were throwing rocks at him! Toe ring sounds like fun but it implies wearing sandals.
Well yesterday I just met with a person at the gym who was determining my goals and issues so I have not met with the trainer yet. She sent me a proposed schedule but had Thursday as the 31st so have to clarify. But I can go to other classes and stuff and they have some kind of old people's exercise class called "Silver Sneakers" that I am going to try.I found DH can also join for pretty cheap so we shall see. He is walking the dogs most days. I can tell when he has not walked Tesla because she starts tearing around the house in the evening. Dogs have an innate need to move as do people except I think that gene skipped me. Anyway, doctor is pleased with my plans so I didn't get THE EXERCISE LECTURE.
Shel glad you did that hike and as you said, Mt. Ranier was out. I remember driving up that mountain many years ago and seeing the snow in July. Hope you are not too sore.
Well Devon, loved your remark about the run on sentence. Spoken like a true teacher. I remember being taught about that but like to break the rules. DH was an English major and has perfect grammar and corrects me to say "fewer" rather than "less". Congrats on the new decade and will think good puppy thoughts.
As a result of busy day yesterday I didn't eat a whole lot and weigh 134 today. Yay.
Paula, enjoy the new patio furniture. We need some too but have to refinish the deck first. Yep, good book, wine spritzer, thats the life. And so glad the kid graduated and took the test. Bet he wants to leave home and go to college. I sure did at that age.
Thinking of you Joey and hope you get a break and can relax a bit.
Kinetic Sculpture race starts about now. Its a three day race over land, beach dunes and water. Its a hoot. Hope to catch some of it. There are lots of these races now but this is the original. And the Rutabega Queen presides over the festivities. I am grateful to live in this funky little area that is sort of isolated from all the horrors of the world.
Take care all. Diane S
It sounds like a cool place to live!

Yay for the Shrinking Nerd! Fewer vs Less is a pet peeve. The misuse of there's for there are and using I instead of me are two other huge issues for me. I have stopped trying to care about the difference between lay and lie! Though, every time I hear someone say, "I'm going to lay down..." I want to scream!
Alot instead of a lot is my teacher cringe !

I have heard good thinks about Silver Sneakers. The Y I used to go to had a picture of the class doing the Honey Bucket hover. Do I need to say that Honey Buckets are those icky (but necessary) portable toilets? Functional fitness at its finest.

Yep, DH took grammar courses in college. He spots misspellings on the tv all the time or in signs. I have another friend who is the same way and she says she would like to edit the world. I am not so picky and not a good speller but I can't stand it when someone says "I seen...". Our local news station is really low rent and the young newbie announcers are always mispronouncing words . Once we heard an announcer say that Mother Theresa had been "beautified" by the Pope. The other anchors were giggling at that one. DS
What about the "words" which used to be incorrect but were later added to the dictionary! "Irregardless" for example: That annoys the heck out of me.

Hear, hear!
I adore the writerly manners of the grown-ups in this group. What a pleasure it is to commune and correspond with each of you.
Our local television news director, anchors, and reporters often receive my emails correcting their misspellings, word misuses, and mispronunciations. It's up to them whether they improve from my tutelage. ;)
By the way, my pet peeve is it's for its. Arrrgh!

Coda: It nauseates me that "nauseous" has morphed into a synonym for "nauseated."
