Couldn't fall asleep easily last night and woke up early this morning, due mostly to worries over hubby's health. Yesterday was not a good day for him; his a-fib and neuropathy were acting up.
Once again, 1 seed cracker + 1 ounce of cheese + 1 tablespoon of sugar free raspberry jam were an effective soporific. It could have been worse, but it's a damn shame a glass of water does not put me to sleep.
Another busy day -- yoga, lots of errands, property clean up, (we've hired those two guys again, and they're doing great), some document review work, and afternoon coffee and crosswords with hubby. Today I'm inviting more BALANCE, this week's theme. Just thinking that word makes me breathe more deeply.
I think of you guys throughout the day -- your challenges, successes, epiphanies, and strong commitments to health. I'm sending good wishes for whatever it is you need most today.

Good morning! In the office today, so quick message: weight 117, calories 1577. Time to banish the almonds again (way too many fell into my mouth yesterday).

137.6. Booooooooo!
See Derm today for check-up post Mohs. I forgot my last appt. so this is a re-schedule.
DS#1 had his last HS band concert last night. Still iffy whether he will graduate or not. Good thing I color my hair, I'm sure he has made me completely gray!
DS#3 has choir concert tonight.
Some shopping, house cleaning/laundry and hopefully some exercise on the docket for today.

Morning Mates!
One Ostrich award last night -- that was one small dip into pine nuts after dinner. (Pine nuts do not lend themselves to endless dipping, by the way)
Definitely a good day/night of mindful eating. I do find that I am over-eating a small amount at meals because I am worried/rationalizing that there will be "no more" later on. Balance is a good theme, Ann.
I have a new breakfast item. Have you seen the sous vide egg bites at Starbucks? Me neither, but I know they are there, just like a Jedi knows when there is a disruption in the Force.
Anyhoo, I made several of my own egg bites in jars so now they are on my home breakfast menu. I haven't done the stats, but it is VSG friendly -- just 2% cottage cheese and egg. I have a fancy topping of cherry tomatoes with basil plus a sprinkling of pine nuts. Supposedly, they are pasteurized in the sous vide process so they will last at least a week in the fridge.
DianeO, hope the temps warm! And Ann, I hope poor Missouri dries out. Dave, you are just across the border? Hope you are well, too. And healing wishes to the DH's of our group!
Hug your skinny,
Shel

I think my almond dipping yesterday won me 3 ostrich awards.

Ann and I do get the same weather. I am just south of the MO border. I have a tapered lawn. I have a huge pushed up burn pile from years ago. We are adding fallen limbs, leaves and an abundance of Dafodill bulbs to the pile. Every time I take a load back there I mow another strip. I've got a path about 100 ft wide with grass so tall you could bale it to fresh cut about 4". The rain has made the grass grow so fast. The leaves on the trees have just come in so thick making nice shade

What can I say? I'm not at all into that extreme grooming, but I get the talent and time it takes to turn poodles into lions and tigers and bears and clowns and flowers and planes and paintings. So not my cup of tea. I love dogs for the magnificent creatures they are. I actually participated in one of these competitions when I was 18. My boss entered me in the wrong category of "Open" so I competed with all the pros. I still got 2nd in the terriers. If I'd been in the novice class I was told I would have won the division. Funny what we remember... Haven't thought of that in years!
I stopped tutoring children about 6 years ago because I realized I could make much more money grooming dogs. People don't want to spend anything for my post graduate degree level of education and my excellence as a teacher working one on one with an at risk student, but damn, they'll spend a bunch on having their dogs hand stripped! Hand stripping is a rare talent these days. I charge about $30 - 40 less per hour than most do. I do want my services to be affordable to those who don't have boat loads of money and want a proper coat on their terriers.
I felt bad later that I said "ew!" but it was my initial reaction as I quickly scanned articles. Lots of artistry there, but not my cup of tea, either.
Interesting point being able to make more on grooming than tutoring.
