VSG Maintenance Group
Monday May 8
Merry Monday!
My weight is up a full 2 pounds since Saturday. First thought was Damn! Second thought was, "But I was so good yesterday..." Third thought: "Get over it!" LOL! Seriously, it was amusing how the flash of thoughts came so quickly - literally nano seconds - and I was able to dismiss the negative thinking and realize that the scale was merely reflecting the body reacting to a good workout on Friday and poor fluid intake on Saturday. A couple of days of healthy habits and I should be back down to the lower weight.
Learning to recognize negative thinking and strategies to combat or turn the thinking around has been helpful, but I think I really need to recognize how helpful the new medications have been. Come summer time when I have some time to research, I am going to do some reading on how the SSRIs actually work. I understand the concept, but experiencing this change is simply fascinating. How a little powder in a capsule can change how my brain functions and in turn affect my mood and outlook is enthralling. I have to understand it on a deeper level.
I am looking forward to a lovely week of sun and increasing warmth. The weather is beginning to warm and children are showing definite signs of severe spring fever - especially some of my more active boys. The next 5 weeks will be a bit of a challenge with this group. It is at times like this I am very thankful that I can remember how dreadful it was to sit in a classroom for 6 hours a day at this age. My classroom is pretty flexible and allows for a lot of movement and freedom of choice. Self responsibility must be the mantra in the coming weeks! (Hey works for us in our WL journey, too, doesn't it?)
Taking two students to the movies after school (PTA auction item). Going with two other teachers and two of their students to see Boss Baby. Should be fun. Will be interesting to see if the popcorn and concession candy calls to me. Will play it by ear. I have given myself permission to have popcorn, but no candy.
Hope everyone has a positive start to his/her week.
Greetings Stable People
No, I don't mean people who work at the Kentucky Derby. Forgot to watch it but I guess it was mud city.
136 today - pre poop. Not good. Cheese and a few peanuts. Weekends are never good for me because I am more likely to be home. Better to be out and about.
Well the tree guys are coming today to remove the broken tree. They agree its a total loss - no saving it which I knew. So I have to hang around here for awhile.
Good for you Diane O for all the therapy dog work. It means a lot to people. Years ago I had a little cairn terrier that was a therapy dog. She would sit in peoples laps. They did not have so many requirements then to be certified. She was just a natural.
Paula do you have dogs? Sounds like you could use a visit from Sadie. Sorry you are feeling numb. Hope you get a little time to nurture yourself.
Well Liz, those seagulls are no dummies. They know where to get their protein! Around here they are seen eating french fries from the McDonald's parking lot.
Well we have some sun and the wind has died down which should help the tree guys as well as the guys fixing power lines. At least we have power and internet.
Well keep at it everyone. There is a maintenance article in the OH newsletter that I haven't read yet but will check it out. Diane S
My fave was get the dangerous food out of the house. That is an astonishingly beneficial tactic for me. As was the advice to eschew evil companions. ;)
