Weight 116.5 (pre-poop), calories 1425.

Off to Chicago for 2 LONG days of work. Our schedule is 8-6 with no breaks (one runs to the bathroom or grabs food and brings it back to the session). Today (travel day) will be the least grueling. Thursday my flight leaves at 8pm so it will be after midnight when I get home.

Luckily I'm not working Friday, but we have to drive into Boston for DH in-person pre-screen for the trial.

I hope you all have a great day!

Safe travels, Liz ! Got my front and back yards mowed before rain. Eight bags of clippings ! Weight back down into the range.

I forgot to mention my glass making session at Corning Glassworks. I've been working with a group of fellow Reiki masters teachers, to elevate my practice of Reiki. Our last session focused on chakra balancing. I made some fabulous "chakra sun catchers" to inspire my work.

Start the day setting a positive intention, and make it a great day !

Hi guys, no weight this morning but yesterday I was above my official target range. Yesterday, I was up 3 lbs overnight, no doubt fluid but this is the first time that I have ever tipped over the range. So, I'm going to dial back, though not yet officially tracking calories. I will start doing that this weekend if it doesn't look markedly better.

I started doing some of my functional fitness exercises so it is fun to engage those muscles but also a bit disheartening to officially see that if you don't use it, you lose it!

Devon, Vyvanse is a pro-drug of D-amphetamine which is exactly what it sounds like. (Everything old is new again.) But, it is a long acting formulation and one presumes a kinder, gentler speed that gives the benefits of appetite suppression without the other drawbacks. When it won FDA approval for BED, a lot of eyebrows went up, we are so accustomed to never, EVER using stimulants for weight loss. Of course, BED isn't the exact thing as desiring weight loss but one can see the slippery slope especially after witnessing what went wrong with well intentioned use of opioids to treat pain.

But, I digress.

It is all about neurotransmitters, dopamine and norepinephrine with a splash of serotonin thrown in. Maybe even a bit of MAOI, I just found out. I think it affects appetite as well as reward centers. There are a million sub-types of each of those receptors, some probably matter more than others tho there is a very good possibility that no one knows exactly which ones are the most important for BED.

You can find a general drug monograph (nice summary of BED studies, too) here The review article feels like it was written by the company although the information contained is solid enough if you like that sort of thing. (I do)

Have a great day all. DianeO, good to hear from you! Liz, don't work too hard (tho I think there is a part of you that enjoys?) Bramble, welcome to the group ;

Happy Spring! Shel

WOW! Thanks! This is great info and I will check out the link later today. Interesting about the MAOI because there were major warnings on all my inserts about making sure MAOIs had been stopped at least 2 weeks prior to starting Vyvanse.

Don't read much into that MAOI info.....and those warnings are standard for a bazillion medications (the pure MAOI inhibitors are messy, messy, drugs from a drug interaction standpoint)

Aaahhh ... sleep! Healthy food. No alcohol. It's wonderful how 24 hours of clean living can make you feel. :)

Today's yoga class was canceled because many class members are still doing flood clean-up, and lots of road closures and detours have not yet been lifted. Happily, class is on for Thursday. Good news is our yoga studio was not damaged.

Today we may be mowing grass and picking up more timber. More rain is coming tomorrow. Seriously?

I've decided to go back to my aquarobics class. I thought all our work on the property would be enough for me, but I just don't feel as energetic as I did when I spent 3 hours a week in the pool. I have also missed the socializing.

I'm with Shel -- good to hear from y'all. Sometimes I think this thread ought to be called "VSG Maintenance Amidst Life's Stresses." Because that's what maintenance really is about for WLS patients, eh? If life were always perfectly even-keeled, maintenance would be a piece of cake. But it ain't -- life is full of rapids, storms, troublesome and high-maintenance shipmates, and faulty equipment. That's why our success depends on our mindfulness, planning, flexibility, courage, and ability to keep learning.

Hey, let's be careful out there!

Good morning

Diane S, glad the sale went well. I too succumbed yesterday to two peanut butter balls with lots of seeds. Had forgotten my lunch and felt made a better choice then the two kinds of cakes that were on the work table.

Food was great, other then the p.b. blip and total walking in the pouring rain was 3 hours.

it is Tuesday, Friday is a-coming. Always pressing forward as looking back does not seem to be very productive.

Oh my goodness Liz, that Chicago trip sounds grueling! Diane O, I love how you use all the hippy dippy new age stuff to keep yourself balanced! I don't even know what Reiki is and I don't fully understand Chakras either! Ann, sorry about the flooding in your area and how it is impacting everyone. Hope the clean up goes smoothly and you can all get back to normal soon. Love having a resident pharmacist in the house to answer all of our med/body chemistry questions. The whole of us really do have such varied and helpful knowledge and everyone is so very willing to share their experiences!

139 - almost a full 10 lbs. above my goal weight and well over that for my "goldilocks" weight (thanks for that term Linda). Not good! My day started off great yesterday but went downhill fast once I got home with homemade chocolate chip cookies and Planter's pistachio blend nuts. I even ate a protein bar in the evening to try to curb the other choices but a late night led to additional snacking (which is not typically a problem for me). I never really considered myself a stress eater - how wrong I was!

DH is feeling pretty crummy and the weight of the household is now on my shoulders. I'll have a busy day of house cleaning, cooking, laundry, shopping and trying to find DS#3 an outfit for his 8th grade formal dance that he just mentioned was happening this coming Saturday and he has a date to buy for, a possible dinner with a group of friends (that is unclear as the girls are planning that part), pre-dance pictures that I have been asked to take and a post-dance sleepover at a friend's house that I need to help supply food for and deliver tents/camping gear for the boys to sleep outside! Add several doctor's appointments and a conflicting hair cut appt. that I will need to reschedule to the whole mess too. Honestly I'm not sure if I am coming or going. It is probably time to ask for some help (meals again?) but I just hate doing so!

I'd love to be close enough to send a meal ! Are there any take out restaurants you frequent ? Gift certificates might work, too !
